“Lovely stay in an expensive town”

Our room was TINY--better suited for one person, if you have that option. THe price was right, however. My husband and I only had carry-ons, but there really wasn't room to put them anywhere, The double bed was up against the wall, so the only way to get in was to crawl in from the foot of the bed when the other was in bed. We overlooked a small courtyard, 3 flights down. Pigeons roosted on the fire escape outside of our window. Perhaps I was being overly cautious, but I was scared they would fly into our room in the morning. It was warm, and we had the window open, but all was fine. Breakfast was in a lovely room downstairs, and breakfast was good.We had a wet bath, which was new for us, but worked fine. Location is great, just 1/2 block to the water, and plenty of restaurants and bus stops nearby, as well.

“First time stay ”

Recently stayed here for the first time at this charming little place. The room was small but they do make this very clear on the website and the staff are welcoming and the breakfast is very nice and even had the smoothie of the day. Recently stayed here for the first time at this charming little place. The room was small but they do make this very clear on the website and the staff are welcoming and the breakfast is very nice and even had the smoothie of the day. It’s not to far from the pier which was a few minutes walk. The only issues I had were the seagulls waking me up early in the morning, cold water in the shower when I wanted warm water and the bathroom when using the shower and water going everywhere. I would stay here again no doubt.

This room was purchased for my son for a special weekend away in Brighton. These comments are his comments, not mine - nice hotel overall, comfortable room but very small and cramped (for the price paid), room was on the ground floor, off the hall and was noisy at night. This kept them awake until quite late. Also room was over looking the kitchen so they were woken by noise from the kitchen in the early hours. Not much quality sleep for them.This didn't stop them enjoying the break but they wouldn't want to stay in that room again for any longer than the 2 nights. Possibly not stay their again without checking location of he room. Breakfast very tasty, service efficient, very clean room tastefully decorated, staff friendly and helpful.

The staff were very friendly, good breakfast and I was moved to another room when I had a problem with the one I was staying in. Overall I thought Kemp Townhouse was looking 'tired'. The entrance hall and stairs are looking shabby, the paintwork on stairs was dirty and hadn't been cleaned in a while - i easily ran a finger through collected dust and dirt on stair tread paintwork which was badly chipped back to bare wood in many places, the carpet is looking threadbare and old. The stair carpet going down to dining room was not fixed on three treads and was an easy trip hazard - it completely slipped when trod on. I was originally booked in to a small double, the fire escape metal landing outside the window was thick with pigeon poo and there was an old nest. I would expect a 5 star rated place to be spotless. the large 1st floor double at front of building i was moved in to, whilst well presented had 1cm of port in the decanter and a dirty glass. I used two of the four milk pods which are not replaced when the room was cleaned - this should be standard practice in any establishment. Although not the fault of the guest house owners i could easily hear loud music from flat next door and an averagely loud party in the house next door was easily heard through the walls of the room I was in.Overall not impressed at this price and would not stay again.

“Poor plumbing ”

Nice room, but on the small side,and good bed. Shower room was also very small. There was no power in the shower and when I tried to turn up the temperature it became a trickle. Breakfast was delicious but ask for extra toast as it is served with half a slice of toast.
