The location is convenient to the rail and there are many great bars and restaurants in the area. It is definitely LOUD on the weekend nights as many people are partying late on the streets.

“Solid - but nothing to write home about”

I booked the hotel during a business trip for a one night stay. Location = Best - If you want to go out for a drink you will find plenty of opportunities in the Belgium quarter/district ("Belgische Viertel") the hotel is located. Rooms = Average - They are functional, but a bit dated (could use a little renovation). AND despite the fact that we had a courtyard room, it was pretty noisy over night - some neighbours enjoyed the warm night on their balcony Service = OK for the basics, but not really forthcoming when asked if rooms are ready before 15:00 ("definitely not now - call back later, then maybe")

Nice enough place, friendly staff, a half our walk from the main station. Rooms very well appointed but without the character the hotel website would lead you to think. Reasonable value for money. A few issues though: Very little sound insulation and thin curtains. Ear plugs and (if you are going in the summer and don't want to be woken by the sunlight) eye mask recommended. Restaurant was closed. Sauna is in a dingy basement, and is only switched on upon request, (at a small extra charge). Exercise equipment basic.

We needed a last minute place to stay on our way from Amsterdam to Mainz for a sales congres, so browsing the old inter web we found this affordable hotel near the center of Cologne which looked quite nice so we booked! We arrived late Thursday evening and checked in at the reception. The Hotel is a hip sort of place in a upcoming neighborhood with lots of nice bars and restaurants. The adjacent Hotel bar/restaurant was quite disappointing as it was already closing at 22:30 on a Thursday and they would not serve us anything.. As we had seen several other bars we did not care that much and got a local draft elsewhere and upon our return we crashed in our very nice, be it somewhat basic and small room with good equipped but very small beds.. but for just one night it will suffice.. would definitely come back to Cologne for a longer stay but would book a bigger room.
