“Nice, albeit dated, facility”

I stayed one night at the Hotel Pravo. The suite was large: sitting room with TV, bedroom and a very large bathroom with both a tub and shower and one of those Star Wars WCs with a heated seat. The room was clean and functional. After 23 hours traveling I just passed out. Sunday morning breakfast was an experience. This is not a western hotel. The buffet has an Asian slant and they don’t make to order. The staff’s pleasant but speak only limited English. They have WiFi but I could not access (the desk staff couldn’t provide a password). The location was good. It’s a ten minute walk to the river and Bund.

“Comfortable & good location but run down.. ”

Large rooms equipped with a comfortable bed plus a safe, iron and kettle.. Same day laundry service was good. Breakfast was mostly western and reasonable quality but cost extra. Large rooms equipped with a comfortable bed plus a safe, iron and kettle.. Same day laundry service was good. Breakfast was mostly western and reasonable quality but cost extra. You only got two small bottles of water but there were plenty of small shops nearby to get supplies.. Bar was OK but closed early at 10pm. The north sichuan metro station is just 10-15 minutes walk and you can comfortably walk to the Bund in less about 20 minutes..

This is a very gloomy hotel at night. We were quite a large group who stayed in this hotel and this was our consensus. The checkin was not so quick. The lone receptionist was a bit overwhelmed to manage us. Maybe because we were tired and wanted to rest as quickly as possible. Room service was only available until 10pm (Okay understandable) but the wifi needs to configured by the staff which I find odd. The room was big and clean but I can definitely see carpet stains and again the room lights are too gloomy! The breakfast spread is nothing to rave about but it will do if you're not staying for more than 2 days. Going back to Shanghai after 2 nights we have decided not to come back in Hotel Pravo.

Pravo Hotel Shanghai 4 nights Mar 18. This funky hotel is quirky and not bad though it’s hay-day has passed as it is starting to show signs of wear and tear. They have different types of rooms, so pay attention to the room descriptions and the rate you select. The location is ok and is in a gritty part of SH, with lots of local and low cost shops and restaurants nearby. It’s also about 15 - 20 minutes walk to the famous Bund, and Nanjing Road. Taxis, buses and the subway are also nearby and all are easy to use for those who are adventurous and know how to use them. The reception is friendly but they speak like english so communication can be slow and you need to be patient if you don’t speak Chinese. I selected the bed and breakfast option, and breakfast was so-so with mostly local food and sadly hot food was just warm! They provide some basic fruit and cereal as well as limited cheese, salad and bread. The room had a firm bed which I liked and the bathroom is not bad but lighting is quiet poor and it’s difficult to see in the bathroom. Room cleaning is good and they have big nice towels. The airconditioning didn’t seem to cool the room like it should and is a bit noisy. Internet is complementary but can be a little erratic at times. Sadly google doesn’t work as the government has banded google in China. Overall this hotel is somewhere between 3-4 stars depending on how good the service is on the day, but based on this experience I rate it as a very good 3 stars. Thank you.
