This was an amazing house great location and very helpful owner, location was great and you could walk into town easily too. This house is beautiful and spacious and as soon as I walked in I thought I was in the film home alone with out the Christmas scene. It is definitely a house I would come back to and tell People about. Wish I could have stayed longer and already missing it .

“A refreshing change.”

My wife and I stayed with our seven year old son for the last week of the school holidays. The B&B is nicely located so that you have about ten minute walk to Torquay harbour and not too far from Meadfoot beach (which we wouldn't have found without the help of Richard who runs the B&B) and Babbacom… more

My wife and I stayed with our seven year old son for the last week of the school holidays. The B&B is nicely located so that you have about ten minute walk to Torquay harbour and not too far from Meadfoot beach (which we wouldn't have found without the help of Richard who runs the B&B) and Babbacome Bay. The rooms were clean and fresh looking with everything we required. The bathrooms was also spotless and finished to a high standard. Breakfast takes place in a sort of conservatory at the end of the building. The room is beautiful with grape vines overhead. The breakfast offered was perfect for our family with a selection of cereals (proper boxes, not miniatures), cheese, freshly made bread, croissants and cold meats. Fresh tea and coffee is served but what really pleased me was that you were made to feel that you could help yourself too. There is a really chilled and relaxed ambience around the place and it was exactly what I was looking for. I cannot comment on whether there is wifi or not because I wanted a week off from that too!

“Warm welcome.”

Relaxing bed and breakfast. Clean large room. Very warm welcome from the owner Richard. Continental breakfast, Limited choice but more than enough to fill you up as we don't like a full English breakfast. Loved the small kitchen idea to use if you wanted to bring a take away back. Relaxing bed and breakfast. Clean large room. Very warm welcome from the owner Richard. Continental breakfast, Limited choice but more than enough to fill you up as we don't like a full English breakfast. Loved the small kitchen idea to use if you wanted to bring a take away back. We didn't use but a great idea for family's. Also tea and coffee available all day. A few niggles, could not connect to the Internet, Hoover and cleaning products on the landing all the time. But overall a good place to stay and we would return.

“Annual family holiday”

We found Rutland Lodge to be in a poor condition with the conservatory door far from security safe, very mish mash furniture, cluttered kitchen, uncomfortable beds and very hot bedrooms with minimal ventilation options as the windows appeared fragile, shower doors did not close fully causing water … more

We found Rutland Lodge to be in a poor condition with the conservatory door far from security safe, very mish mash furniture, cluttered kitchen, uncomfortable beds and very hot bedrooms with minimal ventilation options as the windows appeared fragile, shower doors did not close fully causing water to spray out onto the floor, cleaning standard were terrible with staining on bedding, sand in baths and dusty shelving and parking was terrible for the amount of cars parked. The positives were the location to Torquay and Babbacombe, the size of the main house was good with the exception of the kitchen, the outside area was a relaxing spot and the property to the rear (A) was 5* compared to the main house. The price asked for what you got in the main house was a bit steep.
