“Holiday”

We stayed at the Riu Medira for nearly a week and both the hotel and service was fantastic, the staff were fantastic couldn’t do enough for us, we even got a bottle of bubbly for a birthaday

We booked a junior suite so we had somewhere to sit other than on the bed. It was spacious, well appointed and immaculately clean. The balcony overlooked the pools, terrace and the sea. We booked a junior suite so we had somewhere to sit other than on the bed. It was spacious, well appointed and immaculately clean. The balcony overlooked the pools, terrace and the sea. The hotel is beautiful with plenty of seating both inside and outside and there is no shortage of sun beds. The staff are lovely; extremely efficient and helpful as well as welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The only negative is that the sofa in the sitting room is very uncomfortable and we took to bringing in the chairs from the balcony of an evening. Also, the television only has Portuguese channels, which is a shame, although we were able to watch programmes on our iPad.

“Excellent”

Stayed for 1 week in February. Excellent hotel. All inc drinks of very good quality. Food excellent quality, fresh, hot and constantly being replenished. Staff were very warm and friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Heated pool outside still very cold but the kids didn’t seem to min… more

Stayed for 1 week in February. Excellent hotel. All inc drinks of very good quality. Food excellent quality, fresh, hot and constantly being replenished. Staff were very warm and friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Heated pool outside still very cold but the kids didn’t seem to mind. Entertainment fairly poor, the Elton John tribute had a great voice although his set was quite short. Courtesy bus to Funchal very good and always space - you do need to book. Would definitely stay again if we return to Madeira

“Friendly staff, great food, clean and comfortable room”

Highly recommended and all staff were approachable and friendly. Just a couple of small niggles, the hotel is a little bit out of the way, however this is compensated by the courtesy coach into Funchal. Highly recommended and all staff were approachable and friendly. Just a couple of small niggles, the hotel is a little bit out of the way, however this is compensated by the courtesy coach into Funchal. Secondly, if you have small children, there’s limited entertainment for them, as a group of adults this didn’t bother us.
