Having considered the Marriott Grand and Peking-I'm glad I chose Peking, saved me oodles of money and got a heritage property with large spacey rooms and a location that can't be beaten. The hotel is warm, welcoming and unintrusive-the Front Office staff all speak and understand English. Special thanks to Anastasia, Anna and Nikolay at the FO who went out of their way to help. For medium budget travellers-look no further but do not expect five star amenities, rather bang for your buck rooms, great views, a fantastic location and supportive staff. Yes and thanks to the ever smiling cloak room incharge.

“True luxury, location but costly breakfast”

I came back from Moscow enchanted with one-week stay at the Peking. My room was a suite called deluxe double. No misrepresentation there; the wardrobe, the safe, bidet, sofa, kettle, free water bottles in the room every day, .....no hassle over mini-bar deposit, there was only an empty fridge....… more

I came back from Moscow enchanted with one-week stay at the Peking. My room was a suite called deluxe double. No misrepresentation there; the wardrobe, the safe, bidet, sofa, kettle, free water bottles in the room every day, .....no hassle over mini-bar deposit, there was only an empty fridge......in a clean, no doubt recently appointed luxurious room, We used the luggage room on departure. The security personnel was appropriately reserved but courteous; the breakfast buffet, fresh, varied, delicious, sustaining and ample although however costly at Ru 1200 per person. Now, some advice: arriving by metro at the Mayakovskaya station, make sure to take the Tchaikosvky concert hall exit (Kontsertni zal Tchaikowskovo) and definitely not the Tverskaya oul. exit. You will then be on large square and there will be the Peking hotel easily recognizable on your left diagonally across the boulevard, and reachable via a crosswalk. Foodwise: We went twice to the Cafe Tchaikosvky for a fancy and filling buffet on the above-mentioned square. The price was about half than at the Peking. However, it was not ready until about 9 a.m. and was closed on the week-end and on Russia day (June 12). 2 Grocery stores side by side nearby on Tverskaya oul. Just walk in the direction of Red Square. Russian type cafeteria: we discovered this cantina on metro line 2, one station away from the Peking hotel, on Tverskaya oul, at the Tverskaya metro stn, It is on north side of the Pushkin square, see attached photo for its russian name. We had both quick lunch and supper there when convenient. It was full of Russians and the food tasted good, but no line-ups, the place is over 3 floors plus terrace. In conclusion, the Peking hotel pleased us a lot; hotel wise, one of our nicest treats.

Ideally located on Pushkinskaya square, the Peking hotel is a Moscow institution ! Historic building in Stalinian style, large rooms with heigh ceiling, original paintings and a classical decor, the hotel is a little « in its juice » but still full of charm and atmosphere. We enjoyed a deluxe room on the Garden ring : it was large and cosy. The housekeeping service is excellent and very professional. Breakfast on the ground floor with a rather basic buffet but pleasant staff overlooking the room. The only minus is about the reception staff both unprofessional and not pleasant, to say the truth we felt that the ladies were really not enjoying to have this job. Nevertheless, the value for money was great and we recommend this atmospheric place.

Firstly the location is the best in Moscow for a tourist...central and aristocrat!!At the other side this hotel has the glamour of the past 50 + years but now a renovation is a need.The more unacceptable thing is that there is not any blind curtains and specially through the eastern windows the sun… more

Firstly the location is the best in Moscow for a tourist...central and aristocrat!!At the other side this hotel has the glamour of the past 50 + years but now a renovation is a need.The more unacceptable thing is that there is not any blind curtains and specially through the eastern windows the sun is coming to the room awaking you at the sun rise...at 4.30-5.00 am as we speak about Moscow ending August...Another bad thing for this hotel is the rude security personnel that without any responding when you say hi or good morning they are behaving to the clients viewing them as suspects for spy etc...Ant the worst thing ,never existing in any hotel of the world of 1 star up to luxury...the security stopped the guests to take a picture of the furniture -without any person inside...-at the lobby!!!!
