We stayed at this lovely hotel midway through our 2 week drive around Corsica - it was a bit of a treat night, as it was the only 4* hotel we stayed at! The River Room wasn't actually any better than the 3* hotels we had stayed at, fairly basic and quite compact, but the price was comparable and it did have a lovely view over the river as hoped, plus a nice bathroom. There was only a coffee machine, and it would have been good to have had a kettle (to make tea) and a mini fridge, but no crisis. We had no issue with the wardrobe being on one side of the large bathroom - there was plenty of shelf and hanging space there. The hotel is about a 10min drive down a country lane from the turn off in Venaco, so it made sense to eat in the hotel's restaurant that eve. The menu was much more creative than any other restaurants we found on our Corsican travels, so not to everyone's taste perhaps. We had eaten a large lunch that day, so I opted to have a starter in lieu of a main course, and it really had the wow factor in terms of unusual flavour combinations which really worked - basically cauliflower with a strawberry sauce!! I savoured every mouthful. My husband enjoyed his meat main course. Then he had an apple & pear crumble and I loved my deconstructed black forest gateau dessert. Cocktails were also good. Service was friendly and helpful, with good English spoken. The river below the hotel is beautiful and its a lovely spot to relax, sitting on the boulders. The pool is also great, large with nice sunbeds and quite a suntrap in the afternoon/early eve, so plenty of space to relax after a day of exploring. Breakfast was an extensive continental style buffet with the best range of those on our Corsican travels. I think hot eggs could also be ordered, as I think I saw some being delivered to tables later on, but this was not an obvious option. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel as an oasis in central Corsica.

“Lovely place, food not great.”

Great location. Beautiful boutique hotel with great decor and pool. My only criticism was the food. The portions were tiny, and we were still hungry. I wouldn't say that on half of a new potato was an adult portion. The quality of the food was ok but could be better.
