“Excellent”

Excellent. Everything was good - Location,Service, Room cleanliness, breakfast(for the price we are paying). Would certainly recommend to my friends. Very near to Ocean drive and South Beach. Good restuarant right in front of this hotel.

The rooms are very nice I had the studio suite with 2 queen beds and had a lot of room to move around. I woke up one morning about 4am and my ceiling was leaking because of the room upstairs from me. I went to the front desk and there was not much I could do at that time but they did come in and put towels down and a bucket. Maintenance came in at 8:00 a.m. and it was their first priority by 9:00 a.m. the leak was stopped and they had my room all cleaned up. I went out for a little bit that day and when I came back I had a letter waiting for me on the table sending their sincere apologies and thanking me for being such a great guest along with the letter was two small packs of chocolate. I was very impressed on how they handled the situation. All the stuff that I have interacted with have been very friendly and any staff that I have interacted with have been bilingual and could speak both English and Spanish very well. The person who was in the room before me must have been Spanish because they had the TV switched over into Spanish. So the nice lady at the front desk came up to my room and switched my TV back over to English seeing that I could not read Spanish. I would recommend this hotel to anybody that is in the Miami area.

“An odd sort of place in an iconic loaction”

The location is the best aspect of this place. It was easy to find and if you get a taxi from the airport, it's a doddle. Our accommodation was spacious and we might have been upgraded to a larger room. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was old fashioned but clean and the shower was good. There was also a good, if noisy, air conditioner, indispensible in Miami. The staff was helpful and they took a lot of trouble to fix our ceiling fan and light. for which we were grateful. Free tea and coffee available, but only in the lobby area, which is typical of America. However, the property has a bit of an identity crisis. Is it a BnB, a hotel, or a serviced apartment? It is all of them and none of them. The apartment has lots of cupboard space but there is nothing in them, except for a few drinking glasses. There weren't any cups or mugs. There were a saucepan and a frying pan and some cooking utensils, but there was no cooker! How bizzare was that?! It looks like they had replaced the worktop but not the stove. The sink was incredibly small for a kitchen area - it wasn't even big enough to fit a dinner plate. As there was no kettle in there either, we had to go all the way to the recpetion to get hot water for a cup of tea. I think Americans are more tolerant of this than us Brits. We felt it was a bit of a faff. The photos showed toaster and coffee machine in the kitchen area, but they may have been put there for just for show. We also wondered why the apartment had a tall table with 4 tall stools instead of just a normal dining table and 4 chairs. They reminded us of the 1980s. Breakfast was a bit chaotic. It was a buffet, of sort, served in an area of the lobby. There was a waffle station which was popular and so it didn't take long for the place to fill up and becomse chocker. We couldn't be bothered with the waffles and so only had bagels, patries and yoghurt. It definitely helps if you are have a good standard of Spanish of any variety to communicate with the servers. We thought for what we had paid, we didn't receive a great deal. Yes, the stay was comfy, and we were in a touristy area. However, I will think twice before staying here again.

I booked my stay at Ocean Reef Suites in Miami for 3 nights in May. My flight was delayed so I arrived around 8pm and was extremely tired from travelling from the U.K. with very little sleep. Check in was very effortless and I was soon in my room which was seemingly very clean and a cut above some of the run down art deco hotels on Ocean Drive which I’d stayed at before. It had a sofa bed and a kitchenette with a microwave and everything seemed pretty new. The bed was comfortable and the a/c unit kept the room cool enough. Morning breakfast was provided which was such things as cereal, toast and fruit which was adequate and filled a gap. Definitely beats walking somewhere to pay $20-25 for something and wasn’t all bad eating it on the veranda in front of the hotel. They also provide beach towels along with free machine coffee and a water cooler machine. In addition beach loungers are complimentary at the beach courtesy of Boucher Brothers (I think it’s called) and you can pay $20 for an umbrella too which is advisable if you’re going to be in the sun all day. As a solo traveller, I didn’t have much interaction with staff members but I would definitely recommend this place and I would stay there again. Many hotels are better but you will be paying a large premium for them. This one was very reasonable and right in the best place for nightlife and beach life on South Beach. Happy days.
