Nice 3 star hotel, and a great value for what we paid (about USD $100/ nt in mid Jan). Our room in the main building was small and simple, but clean and comfy. The small fridge came in useful, especially with a supermarket right across the street. The location was great - a short walk to town but far enough away to be quiet at night. The staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant had good inexpensive breakfast (the only meal it served), and we enjoyed the pool and pool bar. A lack of maintenance keeps it from being more than a 3 star hotel - for example broken reading lights and safe in our room, and broken or sagging seating around the pool (but enough useable seats to go around) - but for the price we paid were more than satisfied and would recommend the Midas.

We chose Midas San Ignacio for its clean, straightforward appearance, as we planned to spend most of our time exploring San Ignacio rather than at the hotel. This budget-friendly choice turned out to be a pleasant surprise with genuine jungle charm. The standout feature was our room's distinctive A-frame roof, which created a cozy atmosphere during the dramatic rainstorms we experienced. The spacious, clean shower was a particular highlight, and the room came equipped with an impressively large TV. However, the WiFi connection left much to be desired. Our room included a charming porch setup with chairs and a hammock space, though unfortunately, our hammock was unusable due to significant damage. This kind of maintenance oversight slightly dampened the experience. The staff were generally friendly and engaging, though we did encounter one peculiar incident regarding missing towels at check-in. When we reported the absence of towels, there was initial pushback from the front desk, who insisted they were present until eventually acknowledging their mistake once I left to take a picture showing there were no towels and came back. It's also worth noting that the hotel doesn't provide hand towels, which might be inconvenient for some guests. On the practical side, the laundry service was surprisingly affordable at $12 USD per load. One minor inconvenience was the payment system - you can't charge amenities like breakfast, meals, or laundry to your room, requiring separate transactions for each service. Pros: - Clean, spacious rooms with nice shower - Atmospheric A-frame architecture perfect for enjoying tropical storms - Excellent TV - Friendly staff overall - Reasonable laundry service prices - Great value for money - Nature setting - Solid breakfast Cons: - Unreliable WiFi - Some minor maintenance issues (broken hammock) - No hand towels - Separate payment required for all amenities Midas offers good value for travelers prioritizing exploration over luxury accommodations. It serves as a comfortable base for discovering the area, providing clean, adequate facilities with a touch of jungle charm.

This hotel has its good and bad. 1) The amenities listed on the website is not correct. I'm not sure why their website shows a washer in the amenities. 2) Cleanliness. we had bugs and a steady stream of ants in our room. The sheets and towels are stained looking and had hair stuck to the linen. Also no comforter on bed only a sheet. It was very hard to sleep without a little weight on top. 3)Broken mirror and tiling in the bathroom.4) Mildew and humidity in the rooms are really bad and black mildew spots on walls and door. 5)Restaurant only open for breakfast(But the food was good). 6) No phone in the rooms so you have to walk to the front desk when you need anything. 7) The place would have been really beautiful if it was kept up more and dehumidifiers placed in the rooms. The Good: The food at the restaurant was very good. Can't beat the location. The location is very centralized for tours and most tours will pick up from the hotel due to location. Restaurants are in walking distance. Grocery store and a fast food chicken place directly across the street. The hotel has water dispensers in the office so you can bring your water bottle and refill.
