“Superb character hotel overlooking the Salar de Uyuni”

The hotel is situated on an elevated position overlooking the Salar de Uyuni which is spectacular at sunset. The salt floors throughout many of the public areas together with the salt walls and interesting wall decoration creating a unique atmosphere. Many sitting areas are lined along large parts of the hotel with most having log burners providing great night time heat. Rooms were very comfortable with even a salt border round the wall edge! Food was good (although not exceptional being mostly buffet). Staff were all friendly and wifi was good. The view over the Salar, from inside and out, was mesmerising and was a key aspect of staying here. Overall a great place to stay when visiting the Salar. Would love to go back,

“Good but could be so much better”

Pre arrival was great. Someone from the hotel contacted me to arrange a pick up from the airport and a full day excursion on the salt flats. Pre arrival was great. Someone from the hotel contacted me to arrange a pick up from the airport and a full day excursion on the salt flats. The tour itself was good, although it said that it included drinking water but they seemed very reluctant to give us any. There was none provided in the morning but after lunch having requested it we were given 1 small bottle each. Lunch at the hotel was included in the days tour and was okay. The hotel itself is quite cool and the rooms are comfortable enough. It would have been good if they provided a kettle for the room but no big issue. The breakfast was substandard for a hotel in this price category. With no vegetables, some eggs, mostly bread items, a few cereals and small fruit selection. They really should improve this offering! The quipement in the games room is mostly in poor condition and in desperate need of an upgrade. The one thing that I found most annoying about the stay was that we had 2 small bottles of water in our room on check-in but these are not replenished - we were told we needed to buy from the restaurant as this was hotel policy. This whether you stay for 1 night or 3 nights!? Didn't make a lot of sense to me given the small cost and the fairly high cost of the room itself. I guess they do well because of the limited number or decent places to stay in the area. But by doing a few very simple things at very little cost - they could really upgrade the experience.
