Just back from a week at the Lion. Fantastic staff throughout. Food was varied, hot and delicious. Shuttle buses worked really well in the morning especially and made a big difference to our stay with 2 boys with tired legs morning and after skiing. Never had to wait more then 2 mins for a shuttle bus. Rooms really spacious and warm. So nice to be away from the dreadful apres ski music in the main resort and in the quiet forest. Third time staying here and it really made our week feel luxurious thank you x

“A lot to offer with one annoying situation.”

We originally booked 2 rooms for 3 nights on booking.com and extended to 4 nights booking directly with the hotel. On arrival we were told we would need to change rooms the next day. We packed the next day and asked to check into new rooms to be told we were to remain in the original rooms. Whether this was lost in translation who knows. All was ok, it wasn’t a major issue. Rooms were comfortable and large enough. We had a dodgy bathroom light and a hairdryer that didn’t work but again all sorted. Apparently the hairdryer wasn’t very powerful so take your own if you stay. No coffee/kettle in the rooms either. The biggest issue was the bar area, there’s a downstairs and a mezzanine, the grumpy waitress told me off for taking bar purchased drinks upstairs on the second night. She explained that we must order drinks from her. Two nights later we went upstairs to play a board game, took drinks up and she told me off again “I told you that you can’t bring drinks here”. I told her we will be ordering more and she departed, ironically she was no where to be seen to order more so we bought more from downstairs, the notice on the tables doesn’t explain this very well. Overall a nice place with regular shuttle to the slopes. The spa is an asset, although the hot tub isn’t very hot. Treatments are very reasonable and so are the bar prices including the bar food. Restaurant offers a wide variety both at breakfast and dinner also free wine (White, Rose & Red) at dinner in a decent touch.

I have stayed here a number of times and it is always good, indeed it is one of the best in Borovets and in terms of value for money, probably the best. The food is very good in terms of quality and choice with an extensive open buffet for breakfast and dinner. Our family group ranged from 7yrs to 67years and there was always something for everyone. And there is the added bonus of having beer and wine included with dinner. The spa/sauna(s) area has been renovated this year and is very good. It is a good place for families with no rowdy youths and late night bars (in fact I think that the bar shuts at 11pm). Don't be put off by the fact that it is slightly out of the centre. There is a frequent (free) shuttle bus service and in any case it is just a 10 minute walk. My only criticism, but frankly this applies almost everywhere in Borovets/Bulgaria is that the staff at the reception , whilst functional are pretty miserable and not that helpful !

This is the second time we've stayed here and we'll definitely be back! The reception area and restaurant has had a revamp since our last visit and it looked great! The food was very good - something to please everyone. The shuttle bus to the slopes was very regular, with 2 buses running in the morning. If you wish, you can do the 10-15 minutes walk instead. They are planning to refurbish the rooms after the winter season, and to be honest, this was the only reason I didn't score it as a 5 as the rooms are getting a bit tired.
