We needed a place to spend the night in the holiday season, and found this place beautifully seated on the edge of the Rondane national park. The family room was simple, with two bunk beds and a bathroom. It was spotlessly clean, and we slept well. We had a couple of drinks in the bar before we went to bed. The sitting area is charming and typical of the Norwegian mountain lodges with its rugged pine furniture. The breakfast had what you expect. Nothing fancy, but bread, cereals, egg and bacon was there. We liked it. If you need a place near Rondane and like it clean and functional, this may be the place for you.

“Good food, attractive common areas”

We enjoyed eating dinner here - good homemade food in pleasant dining room. Small rooms with quite simple standard, but superclean and functional. Great hiking options. Nice and welcoming owners. Small ski slope for kids. Grocerystore nearby.

the room was ok nice view, the food was just ok. the soup was not tasty at all but the fish and meat was good. the potatoes was not tasty at all. this was my first time there and it will be the last one.

My wife and I spent just one night at this hotel. It was the seventh leg of a self-arranged fly drive tour of southern and mid-Norway. The hotel is conveniently situated a few kilometres from the main road leading from Dombas to Lillehammer and Oslo. It is surrounded by pastures on low hills, with a scattering of homes, farms and a couple of cafes. Check-in was very friendly and we were made to feel most welcome. There is ample parking to the front of the hotel and it was just a short distance at ground level to transfer our luggage to our room. There were attractive wall hangings and artefacts in the public areas. Our room had a sumptuous view from its large window and there was plenty of natural light. The room was rather spartan but sparklingly clean, reasonably spacious and comfortably furnished with everything in a bare pine, country style. There was a double wardrobe for hanging clothes as well as a further single one with shelves. As well as two comfortable chairs and a low table, the room contained a further table with a chair and two bedside cabinets. There was neither TV nor anything to make a drink in the room (neither were there complimentary coffee or tea available in reception). The bathroom was sensibly proportioned with a walk in shower. The floor in the shower area was slightly sunken helping to prevent the rest of the bathroom becoming wet underfoot. Water pressure was reasonably powerful and there was ample hot water. Our room had two single beds pushed together. Mattresses were reasonably supportive without being too soft so we slept quite well. The curtains were thick enough to make the room sufficiently dark for sleeping. We found that the wooden building allowed sound to travel easily – we could hear people walking around in the room above ours. The tile floors in the corridor also meant that we could hear every movement (and the loud conversations of inconsiderate guests) from our room. The wi-fi was rather weak in our room. The hotel offers a three course set dinner which is served at 6.30 pm. It was in a very attractive room with beautiful views to be had in all directions. On the night of our stay, the creamy asparagus soup was delicious and augured well for an interesting culinary experience. The main course was rare roast beef with a peppercorn sauce. There were roasted potatoes with olives and broccoli. This was odd as much of our broccoli florets were green and yellow whereas other diners, we noted, had purely green florets! Dessert was disappointing - half a pear with cream and a chocolate sauce. So, the meal became less appealing with each subsequent course. It was partly redeemed by the provision of coffee and home-made syrup cake served in the bar after the meal. At 320 NKr we thought it was dear for a rather modest dinner. The buffet breakfast was basic with the usual selection of sliced meats, cheeses and pate. Muesli and a couple of other cereals were available as well as two types of yoghurt. Boiled eggs and porridge were the hot options. There was a wide range of breads and jams and some fresh fruit (sliced apples, bananas and oranges). Packed lunches could be made up from the buffet at additional cost. The setting of this hotel and its proximity to the main road were the main attractions for our short stay. A longer visit would have opened up the opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside – the reason for most of the other guests I suspect. If the dinner had been better it would have been possible to give a higher rating.
