Stayed here to close on a condo across the street. Usually I'd stay at the Hampton Inn by the conference center, but thought I'd give this a try due to it's location. Well, that's the thing. The location is excellent. You can walk to the grove, or stadium from here. It's a mile, and it's hilly so you'll need some good walking shoes, but it's doable. We did it during our stay, and had a lovely walk up Hawthorn to the Campus Walk Apartments which have a delightful trail to the University. The staff are very nice, the breakfast is good enough. The only thing was that the rooms haven't been updated since the Y2K era. Hopefully they'll get around to this at some point. While the rooms were clean, they were also haggard and rundown. Anyway....this property is good enough, and close to the University.

Delightfully surprised. After visiting the Ocean Springs mildew Hampton, which everyone talks about & turns out to be true, I decided on stopping in Oxford MS to see how this Hampton inn would fare, A delightful surprise! The first thing you notice or at least I did are the floors, marble tiles of a reddish brown color in the lobby then changing to brown to your hotel level.. the hallways are quaint with a delightful lived in college presence, and not the gray drudgery of emptiness that some of the Hampton inns have in remote areas.. The rooms have elongated wider space than most modern Hamptons do with the pleasant decor of light color hues, and furniture that resembles cherry wood but is of another wood Was a delightful surprise to see this hotel, and the breakfast did not disappoint also. This Hampton Inn has super fresh bigger omletes with a smoked bacon. Never have I had that, at any Hampton Inn. If you go thru Batesville / Oxford, certainly is the worth in stopping for rest. A Nice Surprise!
