“Found it By Wandering”

We didn't stay here but we did wander enough to find it. This is almost to the end of the city and the windmills were a good photo opportunity. This is lodging and there ae patios that offer a great view.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, with great tips on how to get where we were going on our day explorations, and suggestions for destinations and restaurants. Close to EVERYTHING in Oia. We loved our stay!

“Spectacular views but basic facilities”

We stayed for 3 nights at Golden Sunset Villas for our honeymoon, paying about EUR 200 per night for Room 3. The views were absolutely spectacular at sunset, which is the main reason why we stayed here. Otherwise, it was more of a 2 or 3 star hotel. Staying in a Santorini-style "cave" villa was a nice novelty. Breakfast was very basic, but could be enjoyed with a great view on the balcony (if all the outside tables were not taken). The buffet breakfast included some cereal, slices of cheese / ham / tomatoes, and sliced bread / toast with butter / jam / Nutella. Unfortunately, the fresh bread that ran out on one day was not replaced. They had filtered coffee which was not great. We were offered a cappuccino on one morning (but this was only because the filtered coffee machine was broken that day). Otherwise, there was only orange cordial or instant coffee / tea bags. In our room, coffee pods / sugar were not refilled at all over the period of our stay and there were no sachets of milk / cream. Wi-Fi in and around our room barely worked, however we could use data as part of our UK phone plans (in the room the reception was poor though so this was also quite difficult). Obviously we did not spend too much time indoors (and it was a cave), but this is just something to be aware of. The shower head in our bathroom was broken. It barely stayed on the shower holder and could not be adjusted so it sprayed directly down and on to the wall (so you had to use one hand to hold the shower head at all times). It also had a gap / broken bit that sprayed to the side over the shower curtain so the bathroom floor was wet and slippery after every shower. We wanted to cover the floor with a towel as we almost slipped a couple of times during the night (it was actually quite dangerous), but there was a sign which specifically said towels could not be used to dry the floor (there was a mat but this was too tiny to soak up all the water). We accidentally left two (almost new) TRTL travel pillows in our room cupboard when we checked out and although they were very friendly and helpful, they were unable to find them only a few hours later when we realised and came back before our flight. Obviously it was completely our fault for leaving them behind in the first place, but we don't really understand how they could have gone missing in such a short space of time after the room had been cleaned (surely they would have been spotted by the cleaner, but they called her to check and she didn't know). Overall, we would still come back for the amazing views at sunset in a prime location in Oia, but it is good to be aware of what facilities the hotel includes. As mentioned above, leaving behind the travel pillows was our mistake, but a slightly less basic breakfast, fresh coffee / juice, room amenities being re-filled and a properly working shower would have made our stay that much more enjoyable (which don't seem like too much to ask given the price).

We stayed at the Golden Sunset Villas at Oia in Santorini in the first week of October 2018. The villa was ok - it had one bedroom and one drawing room with a kitchen and bathroom. But frankly speaking, the rooms were very basic and the amenities didn’t impress me. The villas don’t have a swimming pool either. The patio outside was fantastic and the view from the patio is breathtaking. One of the best sunset points probably. The breakfast was another let down - the buffet was very limited with very few options. Stay here if this suits your budget. But if you can spend a little more, look at other options.
