Roy is a very nice and helpful host! We could not have picked a better place to stay for 8 days sightseeing Rome.On our arrival, he made us very welcomed. He took time showing us around the apartment. Showed us how to find the metro stations we needed on the print out map. Metro station is couple of streets down. To get to various town attractions is extremely easy. We had no problem finding the location just a bus away and a metro jump from Ciampino airport. Area is quiet and safe, we were going out late at night, often coming back home late or poping out to the internet cafee/ shops late, after a busy day of sightseeing. On the other side of the road, there are a lot of shops, there is internet cafe on the actual street, its cheap half hour internet costs less than 1 euro and its open till late. In the room we had a tv ( cable , has some English channels too) and air conditioner, which was essential in the hot July weather.There is a cheap supermarket behind the corner. Commuting to anywhere from central Rome to even sea side is so easy from this location. , there are 2 nice restaurants, one had life music when we visited. There is also a cheap food market, where you can get some fresh fruits and veg, as you have full facilities in kitchen to cook if you want. Roy provided us with some breakfast essentials as well as apples, juice , tea/coffee/hot chocolate. You get also clean towels and your bedding changed when needed. Most of our stay we had the whole apartment for ourselves. The rooms and bathroom are very clean, cosy and spacious with a nice view .We just loved our stay there and we hope to visit Rome again at some point.

Pluses: helpful, organised host, ten minute walk to mrt, close to a few supermarkets, efficient laundromat just across the street, internet cafe just as near, lovely view of Rome from the kitchen, well-stocked kitchen, sufficient shared living space and since we were a family of 4, we had the whole apartment to ourselves. It is ideal for travelers who appreciate staying in a residential area, 20 min away from the city centre. Roy understands what travelers needs; he even has a chart outlining mrt routes to the attractions. Minuses: if there is an mrt stoppage due to a strike, you would need to figure out how to make it to city centre with buses because it was not easy to catch a cab.

We loved our stay in Da Roy's B&B. He was very friendly and helpful. On our arrival, he made us very welcomed. He spent 30 mins showing us around his apartment. There were plenty of fruits, fruit juice, milk, cakes, breads, jam and butter for our 6 days stay at his place. We rented the whole apartment so we didnt need to share the bathroom. The kitchen is separated from the bedrooms, hence the smell from the cooking doesnt get into the rooms. The only thing I would say is the shower hasnt got any power and sometimes it alternates hot and cold water. But hey! which hotel has got power shower apart from 4/5 stars. The area is very close to the metro, about 5 mins walk and it takes 20 mins to get to spanish steps. We found out that if you were going to be in Rome for more than 5 days, it is worth buying €16 ticket for a whole week. The area is very close to 3 supermarkets, which dont accept foreign credit cards so make sure you have cash. It is cheaper to get the train to termini then to Da Roy's, cost about €12/pax, otherwise it is €50 for a cab from the airport. There are 2 internet and phone shops next door, cost €1/hour for internet. We were a little cautious when walking back at night but it wasnt as scary as we thought it would be. Could be a good place to stay if you are looking for somewhere inexpensive where you can cook your own meals and location isn’t a big deal. There are two bedrooms, shared full kitchen, shared bathroom and shared living space which make it ideal for a family that can use the whole space. It was very, very clean and the owner was very keen to make sure you enjoy your stay. However there are no real restaurants, entertainment or attractions in the area and it is a 7 minute walk from the Metro station and a 6 Metro stops from the historic centre. Keep in mind though the Metro in Rome may not be as convenient as you’re used to – it stops running at 9pm and after that you have to take a bus which is usually packed and in the 3 days we were there the station was closed in the middle of the day because they were repairing the line. We waited for 45 minutes for a bus that was empty enough to let us on and when that didn’t happen we walked 20 more minutes to the next station.
