“Family Vacation”

We had a good time staying with our kids & dog. Appartement was clean and renovated. The big backyard was perfect for the kids to play. We made trips to close cities Venice, Verona and Padua. We can recommended this place!

We booked for 5 nights to be near to Venice and to try something different - the thought of staying on a farm with the promise of local specialities on the menu (as mentioned on the website) was quite appealing (along with the price of course). When we arrived there, we were slightly perturbed at being a little less rural than anticipated but realised that you can't expect somewhere only 20 minutes away from Venice by bus to be in a rural paradise. We had the Brenta canal on our doorstep and out the back were fields, a big hen enclosure with hen, geese, ducks and goats, and 5 rabbits and a family of guinea pigs gambolling around the car park! So there were quite a few positives when you sat down to think about it. The welcome at the reception desk was unfortunately non-existent; the owners were not there and the lady who checked us in was a Russian cleaner/kitchen assistant who hadn't been trained how to be the hostess with the most-est. However, she got the job done and showed us our room, which turned out to be clean and well-equipped with a comfy bed. We didn't see the owners for the whole duration of our stay, which was a disappointment. We'd sort of hoped they might introduce themselves some time and tell us about the farm. But maybe we were expecting too much from an agriturismo. The thing that saved the experience from going sour was the fact that the Russian lady turned out to be a real treasure - we got talking to her on the first evening and from that time onwards she was all smiles and warmth! Not only that but the food prepared by the cook (a different, Italian lady) was everything the website said it would be - proper wholesome, Italian, local cuisine and plenty of it. As the days went by she came out with home-made cakes and on the Friday night she prepared a superb multi-course buffet (advertised on a board outside) which 25 or so locals turned up to devour with gusto. The cook and the Russian lady carried the whole thing for us and we absolutely fell in love with them. The thing we would suggest that the owners do is to prepare a nice bit of narrative about the farm and its history, the farming family, the building's history (it looks like it's had a refurb/extension) and to make a point of coming to meet their guests at least ONCE during the duration, and to train their staff in the art of welcoming/checking in guests and that "first impression" thing. Customer service is vital if you want people to return. We send our love to the cook and will search her out if we come back again.

This location is a very good alternative for motoring visitors to Venice. You can leave your vehicle on the agriturismo grounds. This location is a very good alternative for motoring visitors to Venice. You can leave your vehicle on the agriturismo grounds. The local bus stops on the road at the Corte del Brenta gate and arrives at the Venice bus station on the Grand canal in about 20 minutes. This is a soybean farm, not the Ritz. The restored building and grounds are in very good condition, clean and spacious rooms. A very nice dinning room and tasty food is prepaired by a chef if you choose not to take dinner in Venice. The proprietor is congenial and helpful. It helps if you speak Italian.
