“beautifuul and very quite castle and surroundings”

the location is just beautifull, aswell as the castle. We stayed in the newer building (as the was a better air-co there). Very kind reception and staff. Cleanliness of the room can be improved. Very quite rooms in the new structure. Very good restaurant in the hotel...

When we approached the hotel (not easy to find) we initially spotted the rather run down state of the grounds. Once inside our initial observation was confirmed by the rather tatty public areas. Our room was hidden away through a series of doors that frankly had been installed by an amateur. The room itself was large there was a separate toilet (no hand washing facility) the en-suite was dominated by a large modern bath, no shower. All rather small and poorly designed. No air-con, but the surroundings were quiet so we enjoyed a good sleep. The hotel had a restaurant which quite frankly was superb. I understand the chef owns the restaurant. We had a memorable meal, the wine was excellent and great service. So, not all bad.

“Cute tree house.....but beware if things that go bump in the night”

We spotted this unusual place to stay online and it looked exciting. On arrival we got taken to the tree house but when they showed us in, the room hadn’t been cleaned from the last occupants. We were told we would just have to wait so had to go and sit on the terrace and buy drinks while the room … more

We spotted this unusual place to stay online and it looked exciting. On arrival we got taken to the tree house but when they showed us in, the room hadn’t been cleaned from the last occupants. We were told we would just have to wait so had to go and sit on the terrace and buy drinks while the room was prepared. We could have been offered a complementary drink while they corrected their mistake. The tree house is built around an actual tree, with the trunk in the middle of the room. It’s very cute and clever. The fixtures and fittings are rustic and in keeping with the accommodation. The shower was very high tech but unnecessary - we really didn’t need a radio or disco lights in it! When it came to sleep we found this very difficult. Throughout the night there was scratching on the roof, which was very disruptive - please don’t let this put you off if you are used to camping, we aren’t so it was a new experience and not one I will be rushing to repeat! We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food was nothing special (crisps were served as the accompaniment with pork!) but very expensive.

“Nice Location, Average Rooms”

The Chateau is situated about 8 miles north of Besancon in a nice and quiet park. Our room was basic and quite small for two people and unfortunately not in the chateau. But everything was clean and very quiet. Diner was aiming to be haute cusine and decent at that, but not overly original.
