“Pleasant stay”

We had a lovely stay here. The beds are quit good, quit comfortable! The bathroom is somewhat outdated, but haven’t seen much better in Koh Chang. The rooms are clean as well as the mutual facilities. The breakfast is really good, enough food; local dishes, yoghurt, fruit, juices, fresh eggs and pancakes. The hotel has a towel service for the pool and ‘beach’ area. You walk straight into the sea, only some stones in stead of sand beach in the first part, but still easy to access. We extended our stay with another night and the friendly staff arranged that we could keep our room. If the hotel wasn’t fully booked, we would have extended our stay with another two nights. The curtains in the room don’t make the room completely dark, however, the dark (anti-spy) windows helped a lot, so it didn’t bother us to much. Wi-Fi connectivity is not really strong on the resort. When it’s not cloudy, people put towels on the sunbeds already and come (far) after breakfast, so on these days you need to be early to have one.

“Adequate”

My wife and I (in our 50's) stayed here Nov 24. We had a bungalow overlooking the pool. The room was good, if a bit dated. The AC was adequate and the shower and bathroom facilities were fine. As with many Thai hotels the beds are are typically very firm but you do get used to them in the end. The location is perfect for the beach and all that White Sands as a resort has to offer. The breakfast was a bit disappointing but was adequate.

The pros. Well located to loads of shops and bars. Great restaurant food. Nice pool, and pretty vegetation that softens the place. Busy, with a nice. Staff are super friendly. Lovely beach when the tide is out. The Cons. The rooms are a bit rough, we moved rooms only because we booked for one night only and we could not book the bungalow again so we stayed in the hotel part of the resort The bungalow room was shabby chic, it had a slight musky smell but that did not put me off. The second room was smaller and a stronger smell of musk. The beach is tricky to access from the resort, there is a big drop from the steps to the beach. The beach has very sharp rocks in the water on high tide which a difficult to see and very painfull when stepped on, the hotel could have warned us. I managed to cut myself on the rocks. Overall, if you are into shabby chic it's a cool venue. If you want 4 star, this is not the place for you.

There is little doubt this is a great location. The “beach hut” theme is nice as the hotel is right on the beach. Staff were very pleasant and polite. Breakfast was adequate, but can be a bit limited if you don’t enjoy Thai food for breakfast. Whilst the rooms were clean, the whole wooden decor was tired and in need of renovation. My wardrobe door was warped and didn’t shut properly. A lot of the tiles on the shower floor were crumbling at the edges or missing. Not saying it was the case for all the rooms, but my room was pretty dark and exacerbated but poor lighting.
