We regret we only stayed two nights in mid-May 2012. The great bi-level studios (living room, bath, kitchen, veranda on the main floor; bedroom in a spacious loft) are made of native stone with a vaulted pine roof. Pretty much everything you need for a short or extended stay was there. Fireplace and heating in the cold weather; A/C for hotter times. Nice furnishings, curtains and exterior shutters. Parking on the street in the area. We were greeted by the neighbor's friendly peacock and a couple of cats. Nice views of the bay from the east (shore)-facing units, whereas others don't get this view. In early season there was only one other party there, so we had a great unit. Seaside and typical resort services are a stone's throw downhill; a supermarket (well, grocery, every little corner store on Thasos is a "supermarket") is close by. Photos on Alexis Villa's website are true to what you get, and it was just those pictures of architecture true to the landscape that attracted us (versus the either plain pastel blocks or gaudy mansion designs of other places). A couple of cautions: Golden Beach is in development, most small in scale not monster beach resorts. That means during the day there may be construction going on nearby. The solitude we experienced in the evenings may not be the case if all the units are occupied with people on porches and courtyards. Also, the Google Earth image of the area is hopelessly outdated. Many of the olive orchards have been bulldozed for studio and small hotel developments, although many still remain and should be savored now! Alexis was a great and innovative host; we cannot praise his establishment more highly. We didn't see his "New Villas" but from what we did experience, I would have no hesitation in either location for a short or better yet extended stay.

Situated only a few meters away from Golden Beach -the most famous beach of Thassos- these beautiful villas are exactly what we have been looking for. We are surely coming back.
