“Good stay in the center of Basel”

Hotel is conveniently located near old town and major attractions. Check-in was a breeze. Room was clean, comfortable and of a decent size. The bathroom was clean and big enough. The view of the river was a plus. It was too cold to enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony. Breakfast was good and we got everything we wanted, cheeses in particular were excellent. Bed was good and pillows were very soft. However, without a headboard it was too flat for me. Coffee maker in the hallway was the only shortcoming, but the minor one. Overall, it was a very good stay, and I recommend this establishment.

This is a perfect hotel from which to explore Basel. A lovely old hotel with authentic Swiss charm but completely modern comfort and amenities. The beds and pillows and bedding are luxuriously comfortable and the rooms are really well sound proofed. View from our room of the Rhine was breathtaking and across to the old quarter. It is so conveniently placed and the staff are exceptional, warm, friendly, helpful. This is one of our favourite hotels ever for a city break or a stop over in Switzerland before going on to the Alps or elsewhere. It's about £30 taxi from airport to hotel as well and worth it.

Wow, what an absolutely fantastic hotel right on the Rhine. First of all, the staff here is extraordinary, super helpful and patient. The location here is superb, easy to walk to many local attractions and restaurants, and it's safe. It's a quick trip to the airport and there is a lovely walking path along the river right outside the hotel. The rooms are large by European standards, very tastefully decorated, and some very nice spaces to just unwind and have a cup of tea. There is also a wonderful restaurant located right inside the hotel. I would DEFINITELY stay here again. Shout out to Laura for making our stay comfortable and for being super helpful. The entire staff here should not go unnoticed, they are all superb and very professional.

“We loved this historic hotel beside the river.”

The location on the river was excellent. We were welcomed by very friendly, helpful Reception staff. and handed a lovely old fashioned room key. The location on the river was excellent. We were welcomed by very friendly, helpful Reception staff. and handed a lovely old fashioned room key. We loved this historic hotel - with its creaky floor boards. On each floor was a coffee, tea and water station with croissants, fruit etc and a mini library - some floors had a small settee as well. We were lucky enough to be there during the autumn festival and could enjoy the loud bands marching past one evening as well as gluhwein from one of the many stalls in the daytime. The Buffet breakfast was very good and well set out. I was brought gluten free bread with a separate toaster which was clearly marked 'gluten free' - very impressive. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel because they were fully booked on our first night there and the following evening we’d already made a reservation elsewhere. We would definitely stay again.
