I’ve just spent a thoroughly enjoyable 4 nights in the Hotel Port Royal in the majestic city of Quebec. From the moment I stepped in through the doors I was made feel most welcome by the cheerful friendly staff.Special shout out to Danick who was always a friendly face at reception. All reception staff indeed were so informative. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. Great shower and roomy bathroom. Really great bed and so comfy . Great location with a short walk to all major sights in old Quebec, the Gare de Palais train station and the museum of civilisation which is a stop on the hop on hop off bus. I highly recommend this hotel, A five star experience . Well done to all at Port Royal. Colum (Ireland)

“Perfect except for the noise… so much noise”

The breakfast at the on site restaurant is six star. Fabulous!!! The rooms are very nice with kitchenettes and everything you need. The place is clean. The breakfast at the on site restaurant is six star. Fabulous!!! The rooms are very nice with kitchenettes and everything you need. The place is clean. The only thing that keeps this from a five star is the noise. You can hear the people next door, the housekeeping staff who are very, very loud at early hours, and the windows are old and allow huge street noise in. And then there’s the laminate flooring which allows the cattle above you to destroy your sleep and your peace. The hotel has to fix this or it will forever be a four star.

Booked directly with Hotel months in advance, thought we were getting the best price. Booked directly with Hotel months in advance, thought we were getting the best price. We were NOT advised until 7 days before check-in it was also the Quebec City Marathon weekend and expect road closures. Darn. We thought the location was good. Enter the hotel, we are then provided our room key. Okay, large room overlooking the parking lot. It's a self-efficient unit, with dishes, pots/pans, utensils etc. We proceed out after to inquire at front desk of coffee service, "Mais non Madame, you pay $4.00 per cup per person at the machine"??? pas de cafe/no coffee for the ridiculous price we paid for the room (4 nights) , (hubby bought one morning only, so much residue in bottom of cup, yuck) Upon reading more recent reviews, we must have received the least favoured room: no ambiance, all white washed. I got the dippy side of the bed, like someone has been sitting on it with a very heavy side, overstuffed pillows. Expensive overnight parking, we didn't move the car for the 4 nights. Wish we had chosen differently, quite disappointing to spend so much and get so little.

“Meh”

I must have stayed it the worst room. It had none of the brickwork, just white walls and pipes and my room overlooked a gas station. Also, my bed sunk in on one side like people only slept on that side, so I had to sleep diagonally. And if there is a floor above you the walking can be pretty loud. … more

I must have stayed it the worst room. It had none of the brickwork, just white walls and pipes and my room overlooked a gas station. Also, my bed sunk in on one side like people only slept on that side, so I had to sleep diagonally. And if there is a floor above you the walking can be pretty loud. The room was clean though and the staff was super friendly and the location was good.
