This is an older Hotel and relatively run-down. We had a double room which gave little room to even move around the centrally located double bed ( a very HARD bed) let alone find a spot for two cases. Wallpaper coming off the walls added to the appeal. However the location made up for a lot of the other inadequacies being in a lovely little backwater across the road from a large park, Starbucks , ATMs, and very easy walking distance (5 mins) to a higher end mall and Metro stations, and a further set of shopping opportunities 5mins in the other direction. We took the opportunity (as an older Group even to go cycling ON THE STREETS quite safely. The food offerings for breakfast included good European ( or at least New Zealand) options and the Mongolian Steam BBQ option for an evening meal was a treat. We used this 3rd floor restaurant as a bar and gathering spot a couple of nights with no negative reactions.

“Reasonable Accommodations in a Convenient Location”

Considering that decent Shanghai hotels are on the expensive side, the Swan is reasonable, especially due to its convenient location less than half a block to the football stadium and spacious Lu Xun Park as well as a large modern mall. This is the second time my wife and I've stayed here basically due to its location near relatives. However, we were very satisfied the first time and not disappointed the second. Staff were polite and accommodating. The lobby is spacious, clean and there's a small coffee shop to the side. The rooms are small but clean. On our last visit, the air conditioner was not working well and even though it was late in the evening, the management promptly moved us to another room where the AC was better.
