This hotel really have seen better times. Everything is old and needs renovation. Room was spacious. Comfy Bed had new clean white sheets. Wifi is stable (not that fast). There was some strange smell (i guess the room was smoking). Reception and other staff can understand and speak English. Breakfast standard.

“Old hotel, good in general but needs an update.”

The room was big, but the rug was dirty, the bathroom had a weird smell and it was very old. You could see easily that many things in the room needed repairing and updating, WiFi wasn't good (only worked good in some rooms and in the lobby). The room was big, but the rug was dirty, the bathroom had a weird smell and it was very old. You could see easily that many things in the room needed repairing and updating, WiFi wasn't good (only worked good in some rooms and in the lobby). Breakfast was ok, but they should have more western options for foreigners. Staff didn't manage English so it was difficult for us to communicate or ask for something in the hotel. Good thing: they offer slippers, robe and other good services. Also, some webpages mentioned the hotel had a gym and an indoor pool and it they are not there anymore.

The location is superb. It is right next to a new subway station and next to Dongbei Normal University main gate. The staff were friendly and willing to help whenever you approach them. The problem is the hardware. The hotel is very old. I heard that the hotel is 20 years old but looks even older, perhaps due to bad maintenance. It is run by the domestic hotel chain, HNA Hotels, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines. The quality of breakfast was quite okay for a domestic hotel. There is a gym according to the hotel's website but it was not operational. The management of the hotel is doing the best they can do and the room was very clean. The housekeeping did a good job and they should be complimented. But the inherent limitation of the hotel is that it is an old property with signs of aging and they badly needs a major renovation otherwise it will be difficult for them to compete with other hotels especially international branded hotels.

We went by walking to a couple of restaurants in the area and the hotel is closer to the university. So we found the hotel highly convenient located for our professional interests.
