“In the center of Norcia, but rooms are a bit outdated”

The hotel is nicely situated in the center of lovely Norcia, but the rooms are a bit outdated. It is a very old building. ask for a room with a big bathroom. Breakfast is average. The restaurant of the hotel is very, very good!

It was six years since we visited this hotel. It remains basically a restaurant/restaurants with rooms. The owner and the staff can not be more helpful the food is wholesome rather than fine dining. However almost always the soup and the pasta dishes are a joy. It is amazing how they deal with the numbers of people so efficiently. It is Italy so expect no excitement or salivating over breakfast. The rooms remain querky and not over bright. But hey who wants to spend time in the room when you have the joys of Norcia and the wonderful countryside around it. One major improvement since last time is good free wifi. So it will never be perfect, never satisfy those who want the conformity of a major chain but I would happily return.

“Lovely hotel with great location in town centre”

We stayed here for one night on our travels around Italy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our rooms were on the top floor which had tiny balconies that opened up to the roof line of the building - really cute! The staff are friendly, the rooms adequate and the hotel includes an elevator! We had drinks and olives at the bar, before having dinner in the hotel restaurant and had a fabulous meal and a lovely time listening to the locals enjoy each others company. The hotel doesn't have parking, however there is free street parking available and it is located inside the town centre within the walls. It is an historic building and we would definitely stay here again. The surrounding town and countryside are beautiful! Good value for money also.

Stayed here as part of an HF Holidays walking group. We found the hotel clean & comfortable. The staff were very helpful & we would have rated the Grotta Azzura very good but for a couple of points. Although the breakfast buffet was plentiful it was very unimaginative. The same choice for 7 days was not what we expected. The evening meal was excellent except for the meat course. I had possibly the worst lamb chops I have ever seen & tasted. That includes those I had for school dinners! Out of the 7 evening meals I really only enjoyed 2 of the meat courses. The lack of quality surprised me in a town with so many shops that have excellent displays of meat products. A change of meat supplier & a few more choices at the breakfast buffet would make all the difference to a stay here.
