“Fine and cozy hotel within walking distance of salt lake and beach”

From September 19 to October 10, 2024 we again stayed at hotel Gaia Village in Tigaki on Kos. Like last year, we had an excellent stay here. Friendly, hardworking and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and nicely cleaned every day. Behind the bar were Luli, Andi, Mike and other new bar staff. All worked hard and made sure everyone was served quickly and well. Compliments to them, nothing is too much. The tables on the terrace were quickly cleared and cleaned. During meals in the restaurant, like last year, we were often helped by Luan and Angela. Both are top, friendly, helpful and always, in between their tasks, time for a chat. The same went for Petro, Emmanuel, Alex and others who were working on the other side of the restaurant. Also all credit to Hassan who always provided pancakes and eggs for breakfast with a good mood. The same goes for Anna at dinner. The food is of good quality and there is plenty of choice. Finally, compliments to the kitchen staff, who constantly replenished all the dishes. Some guests always have something to say about the food, but they probably have a three-star chef walking around at home. Both daytime and evening activities were organized by the animation team Joonas Kaeek, Aino and assistant. Nice, enthusiastic and involved team, who knew how to involve the vacation guests in everything. Toppers! A tip for the management: Many lounge chairs around the pool are in poor condition. (Upholstery broken and torn) Many umbrellas no longer have a clasp to secure the umbrella. In my opinion, it is important to address these issues. This way everything is becoming more and more dilapidated and that is a waste of such a fine hotel. Furthermore, the whole complex looked neat and clean and the reception staff is always ready to advise and inform guests. In short, a pleasant stay at Hotel Gaia Village in Tigaki. Good bus service a short distance from the hotel to Kos ( € 2,30 one way.) Bike and motorcycle rental around the corner.

The context here is that we stayed very late season (the last week the hotel was open) and things may look different in peak season perhaps, but we can only comment as we found. The word we used a lot for the rooms, food and drink was "Fine", compared with similar standard hotels we have stayed in previously. The rooms were functional and cleaned daily, the grounds are pretty with plenty of sunbeds around the two pools. The entertainment was 'fine' and is always subjective, many seeming to enjoy it, although daytime and evening were pretty low-key. If improvement is to be made it is around the food and drink standard/choice/quality. Again this was 'fine' for us but could see where other reviewers were coming from, especially the "when is an all-inclusive is not an all-inclusive?" comments. The staff did a decent job in all areas. Self-service drinks in the restaurant is a good idea. The location of this hotel was its highlight, only a 20 minute bus ride to Kos Town (2.3 Euros each way from a stop on the main road). The short-ish walk to the beach and salt flats were worth taking, we were even lucky enough to see flamingoes feeding at sunset! We hired a car small car at 24 hours notice from N&J Happy Rentals at the bottom of the road (50 Euros with 'full insurance' and only a 20E deposit) this was pleasingly stress-free (compared with other hire firms we have used) and really convenient. The Artemis Hammam is only at the top of the road and can also be recommended. We were fortunate with the weather, although the pools were so cold as to be borderline unusable. Overall we were satisfied and would recommend, but is could be even better with just a few tweaks.

“ok ish”

Staff very nice, food ok always ate never went hungry, rooms nice apart from air con smelling fowl, would not go back ourselves due to not being adult only, it is a kids place loads for them to do, animation team very good though, drinks not very nice, bought our own from the supermarkets.

A lovely place that just falls short with simple things! Our room 208 was really nice over looking pool, modern and spacious, perfect. A lovely place that just falls short with simple things! Our room 208 was really nice over looking pool, modern and spacious, perfect. The maids cleaned and replaced towels everyday and were very good. The hotel itself is right on the beach and a little walk to the main village area with ample bars and tavernas which are a must visit! We are out of season a bit but had no issues with sunbeds, nobody putting towels out at 7am and all that, it was just how you’d want it to be except the ridiculous dance/rave music all day every day, we’re only in our early 50’s and can do a bit of dance here and there but this was ridiculous, all day, every day, like being Ibiza! Food was okay, not great but not bad, typical all inclusive, you just had to get a plate full, find what you liked and go back to get more of that and leave the bits that weren’t so good. Breakfast was a no go unless you like fruit and cereal! Drinks, we’ve been on dozens of all inclusive holidays and this hotel is probably the worst we’ve experienced for drinks, Beer, it’s weak and flat after 30 seconds, just not nice. Wine, the taste isn’t actually that bad, nice actually, but they serve it in whiskey tumblers. The hotel does have wine glasses but they’re only for the paying wine drinking customers, not the lower class all inclusive riff raff (I thought I’d paid in advance for my drinks, I must be wrong!) All inclusive drinks, well that is a bit of a joke like the wine glasses as it’s not all inclusive, you don’t get most spirits, you have to pay. The only drinks you get are weak beer, wine (in a tumbler), gin, brandy and ouzo, absolutely not a sniff of a cocktail! To sum up this wasn’t the worst all inclusive we’ve stayed at but it was by far not the best which is a shame because with a little attention to detail it could of been right up there!
