Do not judge based off of previous reviews. When I read some of the reviews online I was sceptical but thought I would be the judge for myself and I was far from disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. I happened to mention when booking over the phone that it was mine and my partners anniversary and that is was a surprise. When we arrived, we had afternoon tea which was delicious whilst looking out over the lake. We then checked in and headed to our room which was spacious, the bed was huge, the room was spotless and we had a lovely door which led out onto a garden area looking over the lake. We went to the spa which was quiet and made use of the facilities. We also booked a table at the restaurant on our stay and when we arrived the staff had decorated the table for us which was a lovely touch. Somehow the message was transferred from the phone call to the restaurant. The food was incredible. Breakfast the next morning was busier than the previous nights dinner service, which meant the staff were carrying out more tasks and sometimes had to be reminded to take orders but even though this was the case their service was still great. Although everything about our stay was perfect, the one thing to mention is that the hotel is currently under refurbishment and contractors are on site but this did not spoil our stay. There are also a lot of stairs to get down to the room where we stayed but this was not a problem either as for the view the hotel has you understand this may be the case. The hotel was great but the staff really went above and beyond which made our stay perfect. We will definitely be back.

Having stayed at Beech Hill several times before it was lovely to see the rooms refurbished. I'm not delighted with all the changes. The 'background' music in the restaurant and the bar areas was far to loud when visiting with family we like to be able to chat and hear one another! We asked for it to be turned down and were told the Boss wouldn't let them.

“A fair review of a dated and poorly staffed establishment”

Lovely view of lake Windermere from the room, which had been recently refurbished. The bathroom was still very dated with stains all over the bath. The remainder of the hotel looks very tired. Lovely view of lake Windermere from the room, which had been recently refurbished. The bathroom was still very dated with stains all over the bath. The remainder of the hotel looks very tired. Mould patches on walls, fraying carpets etc.. My biggest annoyance was with the spa and breakfast. Children are serving at breakfast. There is no breakfast menu so they give you a choice of full English or porridge. When you ask them what’s included in breakfast, no idea…. Why can’t the hotel just have a menu outlining what items are included so I’m not wasting items like black pudding which I wouldn’t eat?! Secondly, the spa. Nowhere near enough seating for after you use the facilities. People were stuck freezing outside whilst others had towels on the very limited (6) loungers and weren’t there. Overall, i think our stay was very average. I wouldn’t recommend or come back. I think the hotel could be dramatically improved by investing in staff training and adding a spa timetable to avoid overcrowding.
