The staff was very welcoming! Patrice checked us in early and was so sweet even added bubbles with her greeting. The gentlemen who brought our luggage to the room covered it with his rain jacket to prevent getting soaked in the down pour. We was celebrating 35th anniversary and while we were out they placed champagne and flutes along with card for best wishes in our room. We have stayed here during our anniversary for many years and this was by far the best stay yet. Our choice room had been remodeled with new bathroom, furnishing and bedding. Will definitely return next year.

“Great location!”

We had a king courtyard room. It was roomy and we really enjoyed the use of the courtyard. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The staff was friendly and helpful too. Probably the best aspect was the location. You couldn't ask for better. Close to everything. This will be our go to hotel when we visit New Orleans from now on.

If you want to stay near Jackson Square in New Orleans this is it. Just right near Cafe du Monde and the French Market. We stayed in an inside room 104 perfect quiet and just made us happy. Patrice at the front desk was just so sweet and helpful just like we were in her home. The bell captains were very helpful and we had a dead car battery but they jumped it off. Highly recommended

“Nice central location but not cheap”

I'm in two minds about Place d'Armes. It has a lot going for it: excellent location right in the French Quarter, seconds from Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and the Mississippi; old historic buildings; relatively quiet and peaceful, with pretty courtyards, mature trees and burbling fountains. There is even an outdoor pool, small but pretty. But: the rooms (our room anyway) are old-fashioned, a bit tired-looking, and poorly laid out (cracked my head on the mantlepiece getting out of bed!); the bathroom is small and cramped (although the shower is good): some of the staff are a bit surly and uncommunicative; reception is kind of shabby; there are next to no facilites (no breakfast, no coffee shop, nothing except a vending machine, although there is a coffee maker in the room); WiFi doesn't extend into the room, although you can stand with the door ajar with one foot in the courtyard and it works fine (other rooms were apparently fine). And all this comes at a pretty steep price. Our visit coincided with a Taylor Swift concert, and the price was jacked up to nearly three times normal (surge pricing at its worst), but even the regular price was high for what was provided, I thought. And final thoughts: there is no Do Not Disturb to avoid unnecessary maid sevice, no way of showing whether towels should be changed or not, shampoo and soap is in disposable plastic containers, and cups and glasses are likewise non-reusable. Environmentalism has clearly not yet arrived in Louisiana.
