We have just returned, from a great stay at The Royal Clifton, on a Caledonian Travel tour, the hotel was ideally situated in the quiet seafront of Southport, we where given room 207, an Executive Twin, we can't fault, breakfast or evening meals, as both where excellent, shout out to the chef, for the lovely homemade cakes, each evening, they were delightful, the room was bright, cosy, comfortable and clean. Staff on Reception, we are always friendly and helpful, plus the kindness from the housekeeping, was great. We can highly recommend, this hotel, We were just very lucky to be put in this great hotel, on this tour, we are glad to hear that we would be based there. ~ Special thanks to The Royal Clifton, for an relaxing stay.

“Very pleasant Dog friendly hotel”

Just got back from a overnight stay. Me and my daughter and our 2 frenchie bulldogs visited southport for a day at the beach and little bit of shopping so we decided to stay here. It's on the promenade so great location for everything we wanted. Lovely park across the road and Morriston on door step. The hotel was very clean and reception very polite and helpful. Our room was on 1st floor the key was a little tricky getting in to the room. The room was a standard twin which I requested, very spacious and clean and wouldn't o thought dogs had stayed there tv and tea coffee making facilities in room and lovely big double windows with a view of the promenade. Lovely and warm and bathroom was bath with overhead shower which I appreciate. Toiletries provided also beds very comfy only thing if I had to gripe at was no extractor fan in bathroom when showering so did get a little condensing in room too. Overall we and doggies had a great time and great stay so would definitely book here again

Just back from a caledonian tribute weekend (brilliant tributes) at The Royal clifton Hotel,The hotel has been refurbished and is really nice throughout and a prime location on the sea front,food was lovely,the two negatives were the hotel was freezing throughout,the entertainment venue was so cold 🥶 people had their coats on,even the tribute artists were cracking jokes about how baltic it was,,people were complaining their rooms were also very cold as heating not working,second negative was the bar,long ques,only one staff member working the bar,beer went off,ran out of white wine,then ran out of vodka, not what you would expect from a hotel,would I return,yes in the summer months,,🤣

A typical Victorian hotel built on a grand scale, very well situated for bustling Southport shops and restaurants, only a short stroll away. Very warm and welcoming, with polite and friendly staff. Our suite was very comfortable with a panoramic lake and sea views. The rooms are characterful rather the ultra modern, which we prefer. Very good bed with high quality bedding ensured a peaceful sleep. The cooked breakfast buffet was really good and generous, with an excellent Dualit toaster which worked at speed. Very good value for money as we didn't need to eat again until dinner. The lighting in the lounge bar area could have been a little less harsh. Softer light bulbs and lamps would make a difference to the overall feel of the place.
