“An exceptional place, with exceptional staff to match!”

One of the best, most relaxing places we’ve ever stayed in! Wonderful staff - not unusual in Thai hospitality, but you got the feeling that they cared, and took great pride in their work. We stayed in a Pool Residence for which was perfect for us - we loved the outside space including the small pool and covered deck (ideal for shade and those pesky rain showers we experienced!) The room / suite was spacious and attention to detail from housekeeping was second to none - the flowers, towel animals etc made us smile every day! It is a really quiet resort, without any motorised vehicles, which, along with a super comfy bed and the all day breakfast offering, made for a really restful stay! The breakfasts were incredible - excellent pastries which are made on site (by the talented Aui I believe) and every hot dish we ordered was delicious. Cheery and efficient staff made it feel like going for a celebratory meal each day! We loved the daily newsletter on the table at breakfast, teaching us a couple of Thai phrases, providing details of events taking place and educating on local wildlife. We especially appreciated the gentle reminders to take video calls etc privately in consideration of other guests, although these seemed to disappear from the newsletter on the last few days of our stay. Perhaps coincidentally, there were some terribly rude guests using their phones loudly whilst the wonderful group were playing and dancing during the Thai buffet - so the reminders are definitely needed for those without an understanding of social etiquette! We ate at the Thai restaurant a couple of times and found it to be deliciously authentic Thai food in a fantastic setting, the bar within the restaurant was great for a few drinks too. Special thanks to Aoy, Sak, Boom & Two for looking after us. Food served at the pool and beach is of the same excellent quality. The beach is one of the best we’ve been to, clean and quiet with a few simple bars/restaurants within an easy stroll. We booked a private boat trip on the ‘Lady Sarojin’ and enjoyed seeing lots of marine life whilst snorkelling with the very knowledgeable Au, as well as stopping at the beach with all the monkeys! We loved the wildlife and the staff’s passionate care for them in the grounds. Tu, often based at the pool, feeds the chipmunks each day so you can get fairly close to observe them. We loved seeing the huge Monitor Lizards strolling around, as well as the Common Garden Lizards, and all manner of beautiful birds including Egrets at the ponds. I saw mention in another review that the rooms could do with being updated - perhaps to a minor extent, but with the great attention to detail from housekeeping and the rest of the staff ensuring you have a brilliant time, I can forgive that - I think people are quick to forget that hospitality is still recovering from the lockdowns and subsequent lack of travel during Covid times, so plans for updating have been delayed for many. We were so sad to leave the Sarojin and cannot wait to plan another visit - I can’t recommend it highly enough! P.S. We headed to the Rayavadee at Railay Beach after our stay at the Sarojin expecting a similarly great experience…. to say we were disappointed is an understatement. For comparison, my rating for that is 3/5 - these hotels are poles apart and the Rayavadee could learn a lot from the Sarojin!
