Our holiday was a couples retreat to celebrate my 50th birthday and we stayed for 12 nights. Having been to the Maldives before we specifically wanted an island with a reef. We opted for the deluxe beech villa with pool. It was number 14 on the reef side. I am not a fan of over water bungalows and at least here they are off to the far end of the island so they do not obstruct the view at all. The beach villa is utterly idyllic. The bathroom is out of this world. A smart toilet! Diptyque products. A private outdoor pool and shower to the rear of the villa aswell as a pool to the front. The bed is the most comfortable I have experienced - all of the linen and towels are pure luxury. You can stroll around the circumference of the entire island in around 15 minutes. This is truly a shoe free island - you literally do not need to wear shoes anywhere as the entire place is sand covered. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast is very good. Anything you could wish for from the buffet (incrdible fresh fruit) aswell as a varied hot menu. I tried the french toast, pancakes and waffles but I would not recommend as they were dry and stodgy. The eggs and salmon were perfectly good. Prosecco is available at breakfast which is rather down grade for the standard of the venue. Dining options: We sampled Raw once for lunch - the fresh fish was delicious. We went to Salt twice and enjoyed the food very much. Foglianis is really just tables and chairs outdoors made to appear like another dining option. The menu for this, poolside and in room are pretty much the same. We sampled club sandwich most days which was perfectly fine. Celsius is the main restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served. We tried the fish of the day which was very good, aswell as the seafood pasta with mussels and clams. The shellfish was the worst I have tasted - so small and dried up which leads me to wonder if it is imported - it seemed so wrong to be that close to the sea eating sub standard shellfish. The Maldivian curries are very good and I would recommend. Alcohol: The most expensive I have ever experiend anywhere in the world! Our package included a bottle of champagne on arrival and it was delicious. The wines by the glass (Chablis and Provencal Rose Valenties) are just very average and are $22 per glass plus the taxes and service charges - don't forget! We did buy a bottle of Sancerre which was $120 dollars and just OK. The best we tasted was the Veuve and that was $215 per bottle. So if you're planning on drinking allow for some hefty charges! Yoga & Spa: I had 4 massages all by Muja. A Balinese queen! Top class massage. The first was 90 minutes full body in the underwater spa. This was almost $500. $100 just for the privilidge of being in the spaquarium. The following 3 massages were 60 minute back massages which came in slightly less. All amazing with the most beautiful oils and spotlessly clean, incredible setting. I attended several morning yoga sessions which were all wonderfully delivered. A PERFECT setting on the pavillion - no background music needed - just the waves! Excursion: We did take the turtle safari which was one of the most special things I have ever done in my entire life. I was terrified to be in such deep, open water but our guide held on to a float with me and it was amazing. I am not a brave explorer but if you want there is so much sea life for you to explore here. It was truly magical to be up close to the turtles in their most matural state. Huvafen have their own marine biologist - Henry - who provided us with a complimentary session on sealife in the spaquarium. We also adopted some baby coral and went to plant them on the sea bed with Henry - this is a wonderful initiative and it felt a very fitting thing to be a part of. Our butler Nazeeh was excellent and couldn't do enough for us - thank you. Summer and Juma stand out as just being so warm and engaging everyday. Overall the entire staff are just delightful - always a smile. You will not be disappointed if you choose this stunning resort.

The most amazing Maldivian Island!! If you want tropical paradise surrounded by coral reefs teaming with fish and turtles, white sands, azure warm seas and lush vegetation and palm trees it doesn’t get any more real than here!! You can snorkel, kayak, laze by the pool, go on a scuba dive or turtle safari or just read a book under a palm tree. The accommodation choices are all wonderful- the deluxe beach houses with their 2 pools surrounded by their own garden area and finished with a beach are stupendous. The thought and workmanship gone into making them is top notch. Quality fixtures and fittings throughout with heavenly bedding and super comfy beds that you may not want to venture from when you can lay there watching the sea and birds in the morning. There are plenty of tantalising treats to try on the menu too! We were here for 2 weeks and could have eaten something different every night. Have authentic Japanese food one night and watch the sunset from the bar or eat by the waters edge under the sky full of stars. Maybe treat yourself to a meal in the underwater
