We have stayed at this hotel several times and it makes a great base. Although it was refurbished for the football a couple of years ago the apartments have been abused by other guests so are on the scruffy side. They are however spotlessly clean, the maids are very helpful if you need extra crockery etc. If you need something ask! Nothing is too much trouble. Reception are so friendly and helpful. It is a fairly basic hotel. The pool is just a plunge pool but there is a public pool nearby if you want to swim. More often than not I've had the pool area to myself so the size of this area isn't a problem. Unless you have the larger apartments at the front, the balconies are just functional - you can see the sea but wouldn't describe it as a sea view. Not exactly for sitting out on, in the evening with a nice glass of wine but fine for morning coffee & reading the paper. The only down side is the other clientele, it can be used by large groups of students who want to party. It is an ideal base for the more independent holiday maker.

“Serendipitious Upgrade”

We had family visiting Africa from overseas and we obviously had to take them to Cape Town. Our travel agent did all the bookings for us and we left everything in her capable hands. She told us we would get a sea view, but we expected little knowing how "the sell" did not always match the product. … more

We had family visiting Africa from overseas and we obviously had to take them to Cape Town. Our travel agent did all the bookings for us and we left everything in her capable hands. She told us we would get a sea view, but we expected little knowing how "the sell" did not always match the product. As it turned out, we were booked into the penthouse, inadvertently, and were later informed of this mistake. They told us that they would move us to our suite while we were out sight-seeing. So imagine our surprise when we returned and were told that we could stay on in the penthouse. we had a 270 degree balconey and a 180 view of the ocean unimpeded by buildings. and we could just cross the street to the beach road promenade. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was lovely coming back to a sparkling room! For the price and location I would recommend this hotel to others visting Cape Town!
