Pro : The staffs were very helpful & friendly, not rude as some reviews said. Maybe it's because we spoke in their language & it's the dialect that made them seemed to be rude. The location was also good as it was near some small shopping stores & Wangfujing Street (elite tourist shopping area) was within walking distance. The twin bed were big enough to sleep on comfortably. The blankets were quite heavy & thick enough to make our sleep well. The room had a flat screen with various of local channels. Cons : The room was in dark-coloured carpet. Looked & felt dirty. We stayed 5 nights, they didn't change the small towels, only changed the big ones.

“Average Hotel in an amazing city”

We stayed as a group of 6 pax and we traveled to Beijing last Nov. 22-25, 2012. This hotel has a small entrance way and is located in the middle of Dongsi South Street near stores and clubs. It’s a 20-minute walk to Wangfujing Street, in the city center. We booked through Agoda and were so excited, only to find out days before our trip that Yi Lan overlooked Agoda’s email and did not have a record of our booking. Thank heavens for our Tour Operator (Beijing-Tours) who happily helped me check and confirmed that we were not booked. I immediately called Agoda’s hotline and demanded that they fix the situation. They had to call me back because they had to look for a customer service rep that can speak Mandarin. The customer service representative called me within the day to confirm that they were able to contact Yi Lan and reserve our booking (5 rooms). So I guess our first problem with Yi Lan is that their front desk does not know how to speak English. Out of the 3 front desk personnel we saw throughout our stay, only 1 spoke descent English, the other one was so-so, and 1 (who checked us in) who did not speak English at all. She took forever to check us all in because she had to translate through Google the sentence “I need RMB500 as deposit”. To think we arrived at 2AM in the morning at Yi Lan, we were able to finalize the check-in at 2:45am! We were so exhausted from our flight and so tired that we immediately blanked out when we got to our room. Our room was not bad at all, which I think at least complimented the bad start. The bed was comfy and the comforters very thick. The room has a heater/aircon, the shower also has a heater. They have slippers for the guests. There's hot water available for coffee, cups and small glasses also available. However, they do not have a cabinet for clothes, though plenty of small cabinets for shoes and other stuff. The TV does not have cable, we were lucky at least there was a station in English. They do not have a hair blower, though toiletries are available (toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner). Since our flight back to Manila was at 1am, we decided to extend 1 room and check-out at 6PM. We paid half-day charge (RMB 82) which they just deducted through the RMB 500 we gave as deposit (RMB 100 per room). After check-out they let us leave our luggages in a small room at the lobby so we could still do some last minute shopping before our airport transfer at 9pm. All in all, not so bad if you’ll be staying 2-3 nights tops. The hotel is under renovation but they have 20 rooms available.
