My friend and I took a week-long adventure trip that included a stay at this hotel. It is far from the city and definitely for those who like a good wilderness experience. We were able to do some ziplining and cave tubing which were both very fun, and finished out the week with a snorkeling trip to San Pedro. 10/10 recommend this for adventure tours!

“Very good experience”

My husband and I had a great time here. It's a small hotel with a very accommodating staff. The owner, Christine, really cares, and wants you to enjoy your stay. My husband and I had a great time here. It's a small hotel with a very accommodating staff. The owner, Christine, really cares, and wants you to enjoy your stay. You eat breakfast there, and lunch and dinner out. It's a very good value for the money. The rooms are rustic, but comfortable and clean. It's kind of a family atmosphere. They take you on different fun activities, and because the groups are small, they'll make a quick stop at the store if you need something. We were headed back from a day out, and going by the Belize Zoo, and our driver agreed to stop there for us, and proceeded to guide us through. I have to compliment him. His name is Alvaro, and we enjoyed talking to him, and getting to know him a bit. When we left, we even told him to look us up if he was ever in Chicago. He definitely went out of his way for the group, which was nice. I would definitely recommend Orchid Garden.

My now-wife and I stayed here in February 2015, and I've just now gotten the courage to write a review. We were attracted to the Eco-Village's excellent rating on TripAdvisor. After staying there, I don't get it. To start off with the positives, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They want to give you a good experience and help you explore Belize. There is a gentleman that gives a very interesting oral history of Belize and some of its amazing wildlife and natural features. I think they also provide reasonable transportation to some of the tour opportunities. The food was also very good, especially the homemade bread. The Eco-Village is also centrally located to a lot of the sites in Belize. We were within an hour of a lot of the things that we wanted to see. The accommodation was also reasonably priced. Also, they have wi-fi in the common area, which lets you check your phone when you need, but you aren't burdened by outside communications when you don't want. Now to the things where we felt we were a little mislead by the reviews. This place is rustic without the charms you expect when you trade luxury for rustic. For an eco-lodge, It is located in not a spectacularly nature-ry area. If you stay here, plan to have activities to do. It's not a place to have a coffee on the porch and take in the natural surroundings for hours. They have an orchid garden that is pretty neat, but it takes about ten minutes to take that in. The rooms was clean, but it could use a bit of updating. I know catering to the whims of modern travelers isn't the purpose of an eco-lodge, but it could use some work on establishing a better connection to the natural beauty Belize has to offer. I'm not saying its not for a lot of people. It's very conveniently located, affordable, and I think they offer reasonable rates to tote you around the country. But if you are looking for an exotic or romantic getaway, I would search elsewhere.
