Best Western Valdez Harbor Inn sits on a nice property. Some rooms are adjacent to the Coast Guard Operations Center. Best Western Valdez Harbor Inn sits on a nice property. Some rooms are adjacent to the Coast Guard Operations Center. So it can be rather noisy in the morning as the Coast Guard tests their radios, and sirens. However, it was not that noticeable when we stayed. It might bother some light sleepers. The hotel itself is nice. It is rather dated and in need of updating. Who needs a wake-up call these days with the advent of the smartphone. The provided breakfast was adequate, but not anything special. Parking is free, and they do have pet rooms. Thermostat control was not great.

The rooms were acceptable an so far clean. The breakfast was unacceptable. In addition, the breakfast room was dark and dirty. Instead of paper serviettes, there were paper rolls on the tables. Entrance, back rooms and lobby are poorly ventilated, dingy and give off a bad odour. Three of the washing machines for clothes were out of order.

We checked in with Luna for a two night stay. Location was great as we could walk around the harbor area. We checked in with Luna for a two night stay. Location was great as we could walk around the harbor area. We had a room on the first floor so we did not have to take stairs to the second the floor as there is no elevator. Our room (105) had a slope going up right after you walked in which we thought was quite strange. Breakfast is included but not real appetizing. Did appreciate having the guest laundry machines. Although one was broken and not labeled as such but front desk gave us a refund. Second night the TV came on in the middle of the night without being near the remote control. If returning to Valdez would stay elsewhere. Being a BW rewards member for many years, I would expect better, especially for paying over 500.00 for two nights.

The location is absolutely perfect. There is a little bit of a musty smell in the lobby and it seems like a renovation would do this property well. The desk staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and spacious. Keep in mind that if you have a lot of bags and get put on the 2nd floor, you will have to carry your bags up the stairs, no elevator. The price was very reasonable. We were disappointed with breakfast unfortunately. They had a good variety but something just seemed off with the food. The set up was odd going in as well as you had to follow caution tape that lead you into a different room. This could be a great property with a total renovation.
