LOCATION & ATTRACTIONS NEARBY *** Located on the beachfront in Natal’s Areia Preta beach (across the road) is quite convenient for relaxation, not that great for sightseeing if you don’t have a car. It looks quite interesting, but it’s a bit far to all sights. Beach is OK and very pleasant in the morning when only locals are around and fresh breeze from the sea wakes you up. Loved it. It is approx. 12 km from the famous Dunas de Genipabu (dunes). Secured car parking is located under the hotel. HOTEL OVERVIEW *** It is quite basic (not 4* for sure) hotel offering large rooms, beach location and really good prices. Large structure facing the sea and small-houses-covered hill on the other side is maybe not the most sophisticated, but it’s practical and keeps you away from the street noise. There’s small gym and also swimming pool. PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP *** Leisure. RESERVATION *** Booked via ebookers.ie as they had special discounted deals and also had additional coupons. That made my total price really low in comparison to any other agent to even direct reservation. LENGTH OF MY STAY *** 2 nights. CHECK-IN *** I arrived a bit earlier than normal check-in time, but reception staff was kind enough to give me my room. Unfortunately my Portuguese is non-existent, but we managed somehow to allocate my room. Check-in was quick and I was given my room keys and directed to the lifts. LOBBY & RECEPTION *** Small, but clean and tidy (except glass in the lift which was awfully dirty from inside). ROOM *** Room #1407 was a Deluxe Superior Room on the 14th floor, covering all site of the building. It had 2 bedrooms, living room with a kitchenette, 2 small balconies and a small bathroom. Independent air-conditioners were in the sitting area and in the bathrooms; easy to operate and efficient. Room was really spacious (enough for 4 people), but quite basic at the same time; more like apartment hotel room. In the kitchenette you had a fridge, microwave, but no plates or cutlery. I didn’t really get that as this makes this kitchen pretty useless. BATHROOM *** Bathroom was small and clean, but you can see that this is close to the sea. It needs some renovation. There are some broken tiles, some stain etc. Good quality toiletries were provided. BREAKFAST *** Breakfast is served in the restaurant downstairs in the room facing the sea. Everything would be great, if windows were cleaned and rubbish outside as well. It didn’t look well. Buffet breakfast was quite inviting and tasty on both days. Only on the 1st day I noticed that all cakes were undercooked , but perfect the next morning. There was good selection of cold and warm meals. I was happy with that. INTERNET ACCESS *** Wi-fi was complimentary, but quite weak in the room. It actually worked well only in the living room, in both bedrooms it simply didn’t work. CHECK-OUT EXPERIENCE *** Quick and efficient. No hassle at all. STAFF *** Nice, friendly and professional, but only some were speaking other languages than Portuguese which may be sometimes inconvenient for tourists not speaking their language (like me). OVERVIEW *** Overall, I was happy with this choice. It wasn’t the best hotel I’ve stayed in Brazil for sure, but for the price I paid – I received everything I expected. Room was comfortable and views were great. Breakfast really nice (despite old and less pleasant breakfast room). Location was OK, but if you’re looking for more resort type hotel – choose something else. This is a city / business-orientated hotel with not that many tourists around.

Internet bala, café da manhã farto e estacionamento gratuito interno. Located on the second best part of the city, this hotel offers a great experience. Large rooms (with balcony!), clean and with a breathtaking view. Fast internet and an excellent breakfast. Free parking (inside).

Lets start by saying Intercity Natal is not what you would expect if you have ever been to any other Intercity hotels, such as the one in Montevideo. It’s very likely that your opinion on this particular hotel will depend on the kind of traveller you are. But to make this review as equanimous as possible I will just point out its pros and cons. PROS: - Is close to the city centre and will make your escapades to the Historic buildings in Natal an easier task. - Is considerable clean and the staff is really friendly - Fairly good value for money - Is located on the seafront and although you will probably pick a different beach to enjoy your stay you can still enjoy the view. - Nearby are Praia dos Artistas and Praia do Forte, both very popular among the locals and families due to its natural pools. CONS: - The hotel is a bit outdated, and lacks in charm. (More of a business travels thing than anything else) - Is not a hotel ready for international tourism: the staff only speaks Portuguese, there are no leaflets nor brochures about Natal and its main attractions. If you know Portuguese, you can always ask the staff for information - Some of the rooms are so tiny that will make putting away your luggage a challenging task - Food even when not bad, is both monotonous and limited (not good for long stays if you plan to dine at the hotel every night) - The area is not the safest of Natal (the staff will recommend not to go out with your camera nor your mobile phone in hand) - The beach just in front of the hotel, even when attractive, provides no services (no shade, nothing to drink, nothing to eat) during working days. Although there may be some stuff going on during weekends. It is popular with the locals. The up-side here is that you can have the beach almost for your own most days) To conclude, it is not a bad hotel (only do no spect to find the usual standard of the chain here) but it certainly needs increase its appeal to international tourists. Plus, it is a bit off-centred. If you want to be in the thick of things, you better head off to some other spot, closer to Ponta Negra, the more lively and desired beach in Natal.
