After a long, tiring day of work, all I wanted was to relax with a nice cold beer. I stumbled into the bar at the NH Hotel Zuid, hoping they weren't closed yet. It was late, and they were just about to shut down for the night. Thankfully, Julia, the bartender, was an absolute lifesaver! She somehow managed to find one last beer for me, even though they were completely out. What a hero! Julia was incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially considering I was probably the last customer of the night. She was attentive and chatted with me while I enjoyed my well-deserved beer. It was the perfect way to unwind after a hectic day. Excellent service can truly make your day, and Julia definitely went above and beyond. If you find yourself at the NH Hotel Zuid, make sure to stop by the bar and say hello to Julia! Just try to get there a bit earlier than I did so you have a wider selection of drinks. 😉

“Quiet location in a busy city”

We had a very good experience. Easy to get to downtown, the bus stop is in front of the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful, and the people was very nice. We did not reach to use the bikes for a trip at the parks next to the hotel, hope it will be in a future trip. The Jumbo market next to the hotel… more

“Good location, comfortable (and improving) facility”

This review concerns our third stay at the NH Amsterdam Zuid this fall. Our room was of good size with a firm, comfortable king bed with a not excessively heavy duvet. The temperature was well controlled, and instructions were printed for varying it if desired. There was also a decent-sized desk. The bathroom was modern and generally quite functional. Two minor complaints: the shower was a bit awkward to manoeuvre in, and the fridge made an occasional LOUD clunk. Check-in and -out were friendly and not too tedious but seemed a bit inefficient. The two check-in clerks were both trainees. The breakfast buffet was adequate; the scrambled eggs were not very hot, and the 'orange juice' didn't resemble any orange juice we've had before. That said, the variety of foods available was impressive. The rates we've paid at this hotel have varied considerably (think of airline tickets). This stay struck us as quite a bargain.

1) Upon our arrival we have been given a room. Around 10pm they called us (without an apology or any explanation as to why). The next morning we were told it was due to a leakage somewhere in the room. 2) We then ordered a meeting room with functioning screen as we had several people connecting via Zoom. The camera on this TV wasn't working, which was quite inconvenient. Also the Wi-Fi did not work well and in the end we had to share our own Wi-Fi for the meeting to run smoothly. Next disappointment came with the coffee break. We have informed the hotel staff in advance, that some of our guests were gluten-free. The staff apparently did not know about it and so the first day we were left with only fruits for those gluten-free. In the afternoon with another coffee break it was not even brought to us to the meeting room. We had to come outside to a hall to bring it in. There was no sign on the food, so I had to go and ask to the reception. 3) In the evening we have asked for two minivans at a certain hour to the city centre, as we had a reservation there in a restaurant. Although I went an hour before the departure to the reception to confirm the minivans, they were about 15 minutes late and we almost missed our reservation because of it. 4) As aforementioned several of our guests were gluten-free. In the morning of the first day there was packed gluten-free bread and it was past its expiry date. Therefore our guests were once again left to only fruits and eggs. On our second day, the bread was still there but this time the label with the expiry date has been torn of so the previous date was not visible and there was a new label with appropriate date. This continued until the end of our stay... 5) The staff was helpful when asked→ As for our last day we asked the staff to prolong our check out and we were happy to have been given it. One of the staff let us in the restaurant section even after closing it... 6) We decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant where we were met with long waiting time for our meals. Then the terminal was not working and it was not possible to assign it to our rooms. 7) The rooms were clean and the option of adjusting the room temperature was quite welcomed. As for the room stay we have no complains from the side of our guests. 8) There was a great selection of meals, drinks etc. during breakfast and lunch. 9) The hotel was well placed, we had no trouble reaching it by public transport.
