we paid 80 EUR for a double, without breakfast. The room was pleasant, with two little balconies that gave out on the main square. The only disadvantage is that the market starts early every morning and the stand that sells CDs woke us up at 8am by playing its wares very loud (but stopped again after 20mins, so we napped some more) The bathroom was relatively large, and the staff friendly. Overall a pleasant stay. The cafe on the groundfloor of the same building is a great place for a morning cappuccino and croissant. There is another great cafe on piazza Duomo, on the on teh right side if you face the Duomo, called Grand cafe.

“FANTASTIC L'AQUILA”

The Duomo Hotel is a special little place for me. The room we got was quite spacious comfortable bed. We specifically asked for a room with a balcony view over Piaza Duomo. The Duomo Hotel is a special little place for me. The room we got was quite spacious comfortable bed. We specifically asked for a room with a balcony view over Piaza Duomo. Beautiful place were in the evenings families gather to socialise. So it's great to sit on the balcony with your feet up sipping on one of the many cheap local wines watching the sun go down. At night time it can get quite noisy in the early hours of the morning church bells and dumper trucks collecting rubbish and the market starts early in the morning on the Piaza exept on Sundays. Plenty of good restaurants in the area. But, don't be suprised if not many speak english or even english language menus. This is what is so great about L'Aquila you absorbed by the whole experience. And it's great to lose yourself in the twisting streets. We also seen a local production of Romeo and Juliette it was fantastically done in simple enough surroundings for about 5 euro a head. Tourist information is directly accross the street from the hotel. There was no air conditioning in the room. But, we did have 2 balconies so we could create a draught. The staff seemed very pleasant although not much conversation flowed as they didn't have much english mind you why should they. Our Italian is terrible I hope to fix that myself.
