“Lovely spa would return!”

Travelled to the Buchanan Arms Hotel Spa in May 2024 with family. The spa was lovely and clean and I loved the jacuzzi and pool. There are also several places to eat out around the area if you are looking for food spots. I would recommend this venue for anyone looking for affordable spas in Scotland. 5 stars will be returning!!

“Wouldn't return - poor front of house experience”

We just stayed one night this week as we were viewing property in the area. First impressions weren't great. We were left standing at reception while the young lady carried on with a phone call - she made no indication that she had seen us, not even a smile. A lady appeared from the back office and placed something in the safe but again we were not acknowledged. A lovely chap appeared from the bar 12 minutes later and he was able to track down the duty manager. We finally checked in - after a 5 hour drive! We went up to the room and the keycard would not work so had to go back down to reception. The same lady was back on the phone again arguing about a Wowcher issue so I stood ignored for a good 5 minutes. The duty manager appeared and quickly re-set the card - I didn't particularly appreciate the statement that my mobile phone magnet had caused the issue - we travel extensivley and have never experienced this. Also, my phone was in my case as I hadn't yet unpacked so felt I was unfairly blamed. The hotel needs to take these comments on board as patrons visiting, especially after a long journey should at least be acknowledged. Should the staff behind the scenes be dealing with phone calls leaving the front of house to provide a decent welcome? The room was large and clean but very dated. The bathroom was clean but needs to be upgraded - tiles craked, grouting discoloured etc. The shower was great and very hot. As others have said, the corridors are dire and need to be painted - the doors were dirty. All that said, considering the location, the price of £95 (no breakfast) was fair - I imagine they would be able to demand a much higher price if the hotel was renovated. The spa was average but the pool cloudy and this is not a good sign! We both swim 3 times/week and can recognise a good clean pool. Due to all of the above, we chose not to eat in the hotel - the Clachan pub is amazing. There are also small cafes for breakfast. Would I stay again? No. We will be visiting the area regularly and feel we would get much better value and service at the Prem Inn in Stirling.
