“Good hotel with one flaw”

Very, very good hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are tidy and well arranged, balcony is sufficient, bathroom is excellent. Unfortunately, no air conditioner in the room, which is a must, IMHO. Breakfast is excellent. Overall, I do recommend this hotel.

Loved the location of this splendid hotel and the old world charm, Many of the rooms with balconies are on the shady side of the hotel. The room was spacious with a king-size bed. The room had a small balcony overlooking the historic Baden casino and park. There is a magnificent stained glass window in the beautiful Jugendstil breakfast room. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of fruit juices, cereals, pastries, cold cuts, scrambled eggs and bacon and even cake. This hotel would have rated 5 stars except for a number of short-comings; No air conditioning in the rooms (fan was provided on request) Mattresses are saggy and need to be replaced Towels are VERY thin and no small face towels No towel rails in the bathroom (two tiny hooks on the back of the door) Shower cap and vanity packs but no hard soap just weak liquid soaps Shower is combined with a deep bathtub Moldy grout in the shower tiles No kettle in the room and no tea bags, just environmentally-unfriendly coffee pods Bathroom would look better without a large orange mural of a roulette wheel Table and chairs on balcony had not been cleaned.

Staying at the Hotel Herzoghof, and Baden in general, feels a bit like time travel. The hotel and town are sleepy but gorgeous as 19th century, and probably even earlier, architecture lines the streets and everything moves a bit more slowly than in the nearby capital of Vienna. The Herzoghof shares some of this faded glory but is clean, comfortable and with its own old world eccentricities. For instance, the day we arrived, the front desk closed at 6PM, so we had to arrive before then. Likewise, we made the mistake of not booking a parking spot in the hotel's underground parking lot, so we had to find a spot on the street (which was pretty easy). We only stayed for one night, and we did not require any service, so the Hotel Herzoghof was perfect for us, but if you require more assistance, you might need to look elsewhere for your stay in Baden.

The hotel is well located within 5 minutes walking distance of the town where you can find shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a supermarket in town. The hotel is well located within 5 minutes walking distance of the town where you can find shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a supermarket in town. It is a quiet location that ideally suits our requirement for a holiday. We stayed 5 nights. Rooms are spacious and clean. rooms have a balcony, but due to the weather we could not make use of it. In room safe is available. Opposite is the casino and a big garden. Hotel is located 10 walking minutes from the rose garden which one must visit. Breakfast is excellent. Warm eggs, cold cuts, cheese and different types of bread. Good coffee too. The staff and owners were very helpful with information of the place. Look no further. Book this place
