The friendliness and comfort of this place, in the middle of town and so close to Riverwalk, really helped us make the most of our trip. We loved the dining room with complimentary breakfast, but the homemade cookies and lemonade in the afternoon were even better. No comfort was overlooked in the rooms, with robes, great lighting and mirrors (including a magnifying makeup mirror, thanks guys!). Internet signal was a trifle spotty but workable on the third floor. Heating/cooling system white noise covered street noise. Best of all was the feeling of solid history and warmth in this former turn-of-the (19th-20th) century in this former grand bank building. Weathered leather club chairs, 12-ffot ceilings, beautiful historic wall hangings, and period photos, plus great views. And it was so nice to have soaps and lotions installed in the capacious updated showers and vanity - instead of those annoying little plastic bottles. Not to mention the friendly rubber duck ..

I'd tripped on the Riverwalk for a 18-hour stay in 2008, and it was my first choice when I returned to San Antonio this September. It was as good as I remembered. Our room had high ceilings and ceiling-high windows, warm blankets, a suitable desk , and two big chairs with ottomans. The bath was taken right from a home improvement magazine. The desk people were more than helpful. When we got a ticket while unpacking the car, they immediately refunded us the complete charge. When we checked out, they stored our bag of groceries in the fridge until we could pick it up later in the day. The room in which they served breakfast -- complete with books and board games -- more than made up for just-OK breakfast fare.

“Great Hotel!”

We stumbled upon this lovely hotel by accident. The room was charming, the bed was comfortable, and the location was perfect. The best part of our stay was the great customer service. Thank you to everyone at Riverwalk Vista. I will definitely be back.

First off, ask for the corner queen suite on the 3rd floor- you'll get great space, sweeping panoramic views of town, hardwood floors, and a great lounge/work area for your downtown stay. First off, ask for the corner queen suite on the 3rd floor- you'll get great space, sweeping panoramic views of town, hardwood floors, and a great lounge/work area for your downtown stay. Breakfast was light but well done (the hot scones were delicious!). Lots of fresh fruit, grains, and yogurt options as well. Wifi was strong and secure. This is a place for business and leisure, not family splashing about- no pool and more on the polished vintage side of accommodations. A gate code gets you in in the evening. There's certainly some street noise you can hear before settling in at night (it is downtown after all). But once you pull the curtains and turn on the a/c, lights are out! Only to wake up refreshed the next morning to the same beautiful view and do business all over again. For the price point and location, this place is a hidden gem. The Vista will become my 'go to' when staying downtown. I introduced several colleagues to the place, and they all agreed. Give it a try.
