“Basic hotel near Camden”

Arrived around 1pm and met the owner Patrick in the bar. He showed us the room in the second floor. Basic room. Quiet area. The hotel can be reached from Camden by bus 42 (Pimlico). The bath rooms are shared with 5 other rooms, but there are three showers (one didn´t work). We were promised a bag of breakfast at 08 on Sunday by Patrick, but that did not happen. Can be recommended if you would like a cheap stay near Camden and just need to spend the night there. On the up, I would like to recommend the bar downstairs with a wide selection of drafts and bottled beers.

I read a lot of different reviews of this hotel and the good reviews outweighed the bad, so this is our perspective of the Bluebell Inn (aka Westport Inn) in London. We arrived in London on 13 July 2014 early in the morning and my wife and I were going to place our luggage in a storage area but they wanted £6 per piece for three hours, so we decided to take a chance and go by the B&B early and try to drop off our bags, and we were able to do so, but don't count on this as an option when you arrive in London early as we did, unless you clear it with the B&B. The only reason we were able to do this was because there was someone in the bar at the time of our arrival. As we were leaving the gentleman (Joe) informed us that check-in was 3 pm. So my wife and I came back at 3 and had to wait till almost 4 pm to get checked-in. While we waited we sat in the bar and had a beer and met the bartender Rea. She was amazing very friendly and she told us about the area while we waited. Patrick the proprietor came and brought us up to the room, and gave us a quick run down of the facility. The room is very basic so do not expect a five or four star hotel. There was no air conditioner or fan in the room so depending on the night you are either going to be hot or cold. The hair dryer in our room didn't work, so I mentioned it to Patrick and he went and either purchased one or borrowed one from a friend, whichever was the case; problem solved. The tea kettle was also broken, tried using it and the water would not get hot, so I borrowed the bars tea kettle. The door to the room had no door handle and we had to let the door slam shut, but I felt that was rude to the other guests, so we improvised and put the key in the lock turned it a bit and then shut the door. The room we stayed in was large and had a very small TV, not that my wife and I stayed in the room much. The bed was comfortable, but it sagged to the middle. This was a place we could put our heads down and rest at night. Since the window had to be open to cool down the room it was somewhat noisy at night. Again, we improvised and we had ear plugs that we used so we could sleep. Even though there was a bar under our room the bar noise never bothered us. There were three bathrooms we could use and each had a shower, but one shower was out of order. The one we used all the time had a broken shower door, and I was constantly trying to keep it fixed so water would not get all over the floor. There were NO creepy crawlers (major plus) that I had seen. The walls are thin so we could hear the other guests in the rooms next to us. Patrick is very nice and is willing to help in any way possible. The bar under the B&B was nice and they are close to finishing renovating it. As I mentioned in the beginning Rea (bartender) was awesome, she will help you every way possible. I also met Patricks brother (Tom) and he was also very nice. Breakfast is included with the B&B and is taken care of across the street in a place called "Times Cafe". We had breakfast for three days there and breakfast was excellent. Notable items: There is a 24 hour mini-taxi stand across the street, and the route 24 bus which runs 24 hours a day and we rode this every day/night. The cost of the bus ride was £1.45. The liquor store across the street can top up your Oyster card if you have one, and if you are coming from the states it is advisable to prepurchase your Oyster card. I would also recommend buying the London pass before arriving this was very useful because many lines were long and we were able to bypass the lines and fast track in saving time and frustration.
