Lovely place. Would recommend it. Not as hideously expensive as you'd think. Good parking. Room was more than adequate (a bit warm when I first arrived, but was OK once I had adjusted the radiator). Shower was good - so many hotel showers are piddly, pathetic affairs) Nice friendly staff and the bar food was good too. Nice comfortable beds with decent pillows.

I booked beforehand and a coffee table with two sofas in the bay window of the pink lounge already had our cups plates and crisp white linen napkins laid out. The view is beautiful across the lawn to the meandering river. It is a quiet large high ceiling decorative victorian room, downton abbey style, so each sofa and table has ample room to be 2 metres away from anyone else. It was warm too. The teapot didnt come with a hot water pot but was happily provided on request. The finger sandwiches were ok, though too chilled for my taste. The Warm scones clotted cream & jam were absolutely great, and the cakes were fine. I cannot say excellent, but I had a 2 for 1 one yeo valley voucher making it good value for money, especially as we sat talking all afternoon! If you want to get out of the house for a couple of hours and feel ' safe' book and chill out here for a couple of hours. The staff are so friendly too.
