I stayed at Diplomats Lodge with my husband and our friends. We all found the B & B to be a real hidden gem! After reading some of the bad reviews, we were a little apprehensive about our visit, but were relieved to find that non of the reviews appeared to be warranted. Our room's were both very large and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom's were beautiful and the service was exceptional. The 2 gentleman we met couldn't do enough for us! The continental breakfast was delicious, with lots to choose from too! The location was perfect for a visit to Sheffield and the surrounding areas, and there's a lovely country park just over the road (perfect for walking, with breath taking views). We will most definitely be staying again on our next visit to Sheffield :-)... Highly recommended!

“Mixed feelings but a final thumbs up.”

We chose this property for its proximity to where we needed to be Arrived to find no one around & the place locked up. A number on the door to call for service was no use to us as we had just arrived from US & had no phone. At the rear of the property we found someone who let is in, & showed us to our room. This was not the room we booked & payed for which had a kings size bed. We complained but was told no alternative was available. We took the room but the double/full size bed was no good When we came to sleep there was only a single duvet in the room & this has no cover, that night we slept under the bath towels.. 2 small pillows made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep & so on the 3rd night we had an additional single/twin bed brought in so that we could sleep. The bedside lamp had no bulb. The soap is the size of a dime & no shampoo is provided. During the bed moving process the TV cable was broken so for one night we had the TV in a strangle place & had to move it to sleep. On the 4th day we ran out of toilet paper. All these little things brought down what would have been a much better score/rating. The internet is good & the signal strong. The parking can be a little tricky. The breakfast is good but served way too late,.8 am weekdays & 9 at the weekend. No way you can get breakfast before going to work. The staff were very friendly, & did address every problem (other than the fact that we did not get the room we paid for) but there should not have been issues in the 1st place. In fact if it was not for the fact that the staff were so nice I would have had to have given this place a poor rating. Stay again? Unlikely. Recommend to others? Only after providing them with the information about the problems we had.
