“Single Woman in Florence- Great Host and Safe Hotel in Great Safe location”

I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights/4 days (from June 23 to June 26, 2022) . I had to take a language class in Florence, and due to the fact that it is the end of June, all of the hotels were booked by tourists from around the world. I ended up at this hotel just by chance, because it was the only hotel which could offer me a room for three consecutive nights. I arrived in Florence via train and then walked to the hotel. Along the way, I got lost and called the B&B Contact, Frederico. He heard my frustrations and came outside to help me to ensure that I could find the B&B. The B&B is located right to the left of San Firenze Suites (because they do not have a big glaring sign on the outside of the building). Once inside the multi-use building, there is an elevator after you ascend 11 steps, to the left. I stayed in room 11. The purpose of me booking this room was for me to have a roof over my head, after my class ended.I did not need something elegant or amazing, because I just needed the room to sleep. My room was a bit big—there was an “antique” couch, a bed, a dining table, two windows, a cooking range, and a bathroom area with a separate sink area, and then the room with stand up shower (no bath tub) toilet ,bidet, and towel rack. I did not have a view out into the square from my room, but that is okay because I did not request that. I would label the rooms as being a bit antique. There are a few paint touch ups and some cosmetic things which could be done to beautify the room a bit more. In terms of plugs, there are plugs for you to charge your electronics. I like how the light switches for the room are near the bed, so you do not have to get up to turn off the lights. There is wi-fi (it can be hit and miss at times, but it is always perfect when you leave the main entrance).There is also a mini fridge in the room. In terms of the room key, the room key is an actual key, and not an electronic key. You will be given two keys- a key to your room and then the key to the big grand building ( it is a big responsibility, no??). There is breakfast available if you choose to have it-The breakfast consists of some bread options, cheese, meats, coffee, hard broiled eggs, and some desserts. They also had two different types of juice. If you are American, do not expect scrambled eggs,bacon, and sausage- you will not get that here. Remember that no two hotels do breakfast the same, and that you are in a foreign country. I really liked the location of this hotel because I could walk anywhere—I could walk to the water (Ponte Vecchio), I could walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazza Duomo, Uffizi, and much much more. There is a public square right in front of the hotel, where you can sit and people watch. There are restaurants and leather shops everywhere, there are amazing gelato shops everywhere. This is a grand location. Also, Frederico is so sweet and so kind, and good looking. He is the one who will assist you when you arrive. He will answer every single question you have, assist you in any way possible, he pays attention to everything. I even saw him helping a boy make toast because the oven was hot and the boy’s parents were not paying attention, but Frederico was. I don’t know how much this guy gets paid, but he deserves a pay rise, I have never seen anyone work this hard in ANY hotel, and trust me, I have stayed at plenty hotels around the world ( Hilton,Marriotts,Four Seasons, you name it!) .The men who make the coffee are also nice, as well as the people who clean the rooms. If you are looking for a hotel in a prime location, this location is perfect. Its handicap-accessible once you are able to go up the 11 steps in the building entrance. The room is also supplied with the typical hotel amenities ( soaps and shower caps). Would I stay here again? Yes, because as a single woman staying at this place, I felt 100% safe. The host, Frederico, is very kind and does a great job making the guests feel welcomed. He speaks English, apart from Italian. Also, if you need a cab, he will assist you in getting a taxicab. True, there is no " official" 24 hour check in, but Frederico can always be reached throughout the day, so therefore, it is not necessary. You just call him if you need anything- its that simple. Technology is a wonderful thing. I saw many families staying at this hotel as well. I gave the Rooms a rating of 4, because they are a bit dated inside, I feel that a few simple cosmetic changes could be done to update the look. I would be more than happy to share my room ideas with the manager in the future :) As for the price range, I paid a lot for this room, but i think its only because i booked it during the peak tourism time, I m sure the price changes based on the season. Overall, it is a great place and I will definitely stay here again in the future.

My mom and I visited Florence for 3 nights, and we chose to stay at Galileo 2000 because of its great location to all the must see places as well as its Renaissance decorative style. This B&B was indeed as lovely as it promised to be by the reviews and the descriptions of various booking sites. The best experience however was being so welcomed and cared for by our host, Federico. He was most attentive throughout our stay. We left Florence with the best memories. Thank you Galileo 2000!

“Disappointing!”

We stayed here as we had read some really good reviews however, our experience was very disappointing. The location is amazing but that’s where it ends. Having arrived, very tired, we couldn’t get in. Nobody would answer the door and the phone went straight to voicemail. Finally, another guest cam… more

We stayed here as we had read some really good reviews however, our experience was very disappointing. The location is amazing but that’s where it ends. Having arrived, very tired, we couldn’t get in. Nobody would answer the door and the phone went straight to voicemail. Finally, another guest came back and we got in. Fortunately, the cleaner gave us the keys. The room was spacious but the toilet and shower made a terrible noise. Worse than that, outside our room, on a tiny balcony, was an enormous tank that made a constant noise like a ventilator. We asked to move but we were told it didn’t go through the whole night. The staff were unhelpful and the last straw was on the morning of our departure, we were told we could have an early breakfast (7.30) but the waitress made us sit outside, didn’t give us a plate or put the lights on. Hardly the crack of dawn!! In short, we wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you are prepared to compromise everything for the location.
