“Great little home away from home.”

Our stay at the My extra home Piazzetta Margutta was very pleasant. Our apartment had a separate bedroom and a complete kitchen, ideal for families with kids. We made use of the transfer from the airport offered by the hotel. The apartment was clean and nicely furnished. The location of the apartment was perfect, very close to the Trevi fountain and roads to other attractions. Everything was easily reached by Uber or taxy. In the mornings, we did get woken up by the hustle and bustle of the restaurant bellow, they start from around 06:00 (stayed on the first floor) but other than that we had a very oleasant stay. The last day we left our luggage in the front office after check out and hit the city of Rome for a couple of hours before flying back. I definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you are traveling with family or a group.

“A lovely apartment, spoiled by two major issues”

The apartment itself is very nice. Spacious and with quality furniture etc. Unfortunately, when we stayed, there were a couple of issues which spoiled our stay. 1. The apartment was far too hot. The outside temperature was 22-24 degrees yet, each time we opened the front door to enter the apartment, a wall of heat hit us. I asked My Extra Home how we turned the a/c on and they came back to us to say that the a/c in the building does not get turned-on until 7th April. We were there 3rd to 6th April! I then asked whether they could let us have 3 electric fans, one for each bedroom, as it was very difficult to sleep in the heat. They said that they would sort it but never did. In the end, my wife had to sleep on the sofa-bed in the lounge as it was slightly cooler than the downstairs bedroom, which was very hot and had a window that was sealed shut. The upstairs bedrooms were very hot too. 2. All of the doors to the upstairs rooms seem to have expanded, meaning that they drag along the floor, making a terrible noise, and had to be pushed really hard to make them close, again, making a really loud noise. This was most noticeable at bedtime when my family were going from the bathroom to their bedrooms. The noise was so loud, it woke any of us that had already fallen asleep. There was no way to avoid this, unless we’d kept all of the doors wide open. If it wasn’t for these negatives, the apartment would have been lovely as it was nice and spacious and had two terraces. Unfortunately, being unable to sleep because of the heat and/or noise stops it from being a ‘luxury’ apartment in our opinion. If you can’t sleep and relax when you’re on holiday, what’s the point of going?!
