“A bit of luxury in the Countryside”

A lovely building and beautiful setting. Remote but how we like it. Good parking. Excellent young lad on reception (early 20s?). Very friendly, polite and efficient. Only stayed one night. Girl on reception in morning also friendly. Wonderful pool and hot tub - almost had both to ourselves. Had ground floor suite - very spacious and well appointed. Only down side is that, being ground floor, we had lots of guests walking past our windows as they were accessing the garden and they never can avoid the temptation to peer in... Food was excellent although I would agree with another review that it was a little pricey and not huge portions. I know what these 'high quality' meals are generally like so just comparing to what we have had before. Having said that, it was extremely tasty and well presented. I would have been happy with the portion size (having gorged all holiday) but for a little less money. Breakfast was quite pricey for what we had a choice of, compared to much cheaper places we had stayed in. Overall, very much enjoyed the stay and would come again if in the area.

“Great place to stay if touring this part of the Loire Valley ”

Recently took a group of friends/customers & stayed 5 nights. Hotel is lovely,very good restaurant for both dinner & breakfast. Excellent & friendly owners,lovely rooms (garden rooms)& great swimming pool. A little remote yet an ideal base for touring this part of the Loire Valley.

This is a really pleasant comfortable hotel. It isn’t in Cangey nor even Fleuray. Quickest way is via Autrecht and Dame Marie des Bois. The room price is lower than you might expect for this quality, presumably to reduce commissions paid for booking companies (Always book direct, anyway). You also pay for the room in effect by the cost of breakfast 15€ and dinner (3 course menu 45€), but taken all together, it is very good value. I would have preferred a wider choice on the standard dinner menu (choose from three starters, two main courses ((one is always fish)) and two desserts). (You can order the same courses individually.) The standard of cooking and service is high. Each course is elaborately decorated, but the portions are small. Vegetables usually consisted of a small purée beside the meat or fish. Generally the food was warm rather than hot. They could invest in some cloches. Breakfast was the same price whatever you ate. There was a wide choice of hot and cold food, including muesli, freshly squeezed orange juice, bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, ham, cheese, yoghurts and, of course, croissants and brioches. The pool was clean and refreshing. The rooms were also clean, serviced daily and well furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, this is a high-quality, well-run hotel. It is well positioned for Chenonceau, Chambord and Villandry.
