“Must've been a bad moon out”

Locals recommended we stay at the Hilton Garden in Kennett Square but they were closed for extensive renovations. The Fairfield was the only other local hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at check-in the staff were friendly and helpful and all the ground floor common areas were neat and clean. But odd things started popping up right away. First, the hotel was missing a reservation for the third member of our party. They arranged for him to stay at another hotel about 15 miles further away. My other colleague was given a key to the wrong room and rather than simply switching the reservations between rooms that asked him to packed back up and move to the original room assigned to his reservation. First impressions of my room were excellent until I took off my shoes and walked to the window. Evidently air conditioner condensate water had been leaking onto the carpet for several hours so that half the room was like walking though mud puddles. Unfortunately, they couldn't switch me to a new room since they were full. Opted to stay where I was and use the dry half of the room but kept wondering whether the room below me was experiencing a ceiling drip all night. Finally, when we headed out to dinner that night we're overheard an irate businessman who stays regularly in this hotel complaining at the front desk. Seems his reservation had also gone AWOL and so they sent him to the other hotel 15 miles away. But the breakfast was nice.

“It was ok”

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Our stay was, unfortunately, less than restful. The toilet in the bathroom ran all night, and the noise from the highway was awful. They do provide earplugs, which help, however, not enough to allow for a decent sleep.

While reading in the lobby I heard staff and maintenance talk about 2 floors without heat. Lady at front desk said she is not transferring anyone NOR passing out heaters unless they ask! 😳 Also, there was very little hot water for one shower and no hot water for second shower. While reading in the lobby I heard staff and maintenance talk about 2 floors without heat. Lady at front desk said she is not transferring anyone NOR passing out heaters unless they ask! 😳 Also, there was very little hot water for one shower and no hot water for second shower. My experience was lacking at check in also. The same lady was at the front desk and didn’t say a thing to me upon entering. (Lobby was empty). I stood at the front desk waiting but nothing until my daughter spoke up and said, “are you checked in?” Dumbfounded, the lady said, “oh do you need to check in?” Really disappointed with this hotel as I’ve never had a bad experience with a Fairfield before. Giving a 3 because the room was nice and the breakfast was good.
