We stayed one night at the guest house in July 2022. The place offers somewhat late check-in, at 16. Very nice owners, who live and breathe for the hotel, the restaurant and the wine bodega. The place oozes history. Our room used to be a stable for horses! Nice decor in the room, with some special details in pictures and lighting. The bathroom was simple but functional. Comfortable beds. We had dinner in the restaurant. The menu was a bit limited, and not quite to our taste, but with a bit of an open-minded attitude this went well. Two young waiters did a good job, but one of them will probably smile a bit more when gaining experience :) Breakfast: You get what you need. Especially fun to eat in a room that holds so much history. The owner was sitting at a table in the breakfast room with his office work, talking to the guests and kindly telling about the history of the place. A particularly nice feature of the place! Skivarps gästgivaregård is a place we recommend, especially because of its uniqueness. And don't miss the special trees in the garden, busloads of people come here to have a look at them!

We arrived in sleepy Skivarp on an April evening and found the 16thC gastgivaregard closed up and apparently deserted, but after banging on various doors the owner appeared and it materialised that we were the only guests. Consequently, the restaurant was closed, but she directed us to the local (Chinese) pizza house where we filled up on interesting cabbage, raw prawns and lemon cider. The en suite room, overlooking the huge country courtyard, was clean, comfortable, warm and adequate. The next morning, we were greeted by a typical Swedish buffet breakfast with plenty of variety,- homemade jams, breads, cheeses etc., despite there being just the two of us in the pleasant dining room. We paid about £45 for the two of us, which was excellent value. Skivarp is a small village, just a few minutes drive from the coast and the picturesque fishing shacks of Abbekas. It is ideal as a first stop in Sweden from the Oresund if you prefer the countryside to Malmo. The hotel had lots of character and was refreshing alternative to the big modern chains.
