“Lovely Hotel”

Had a lovely stay here for three nights. The hotel is in a wonderful location with the dining room looking out over the lake. Breakfast was excellent with a very good buffet selection. Had a lovely stay here for three nights. The hotel is in a wonderful location with the dining room looking out over the lake. Breakfast was excellent with a very good buffet selection. Dinner was also very good but sadly the menu did not change whilst we were there, it would have been nice to have had a greater selection over three days. Our room was very nice if minimally but comfortably furnished. The staff were lovely and very helpful and generally spoke English. We had the impression that this hotel really catered for the short stay business trade hence the minimalist furnishings and non changing dinner menu. It would have been nice to have had a lift to the upper floors as the stairs were difficult for those with mobility issues. Having said that we would like to return here.

This hotel is situated next to the lake, it’s on 2 floors and we were asked if I wanted ground floor as I can’t walk easily. This hotel is situated next to the lake, it’s on 2 floors and we were asked if I wanted ground floor as I can’t walk easily. We ate twice in the restaurant, it was VERY good especially the Camembert sauce on the steak, deserts were to die for. The room was small and hot but bed very comfortable and clean. I actually managed to get in and out of shower over bath a few times without falling as the bath had non slip base. No English speaking TV channels but that wasn’t a problem as we were in France and didn’t expect it! I rode my mobility scooter around the lake one day and really enjoyed it. I would return for a short break again

We stayed for one night on our way back to the UK. It is near the motorway but was quite difficult to find. It is next to a large camping/activity centre which we had not expected. There is either a shortage of staff or a management issue. Maybe staff have very defined roles. For example whilst someone ‘maned’ reception when we arrived she had to call a colleague to check us in. There could have been an issue with our dinner reservation because whilst we had made a dinner reservation on our online booking form they had not acknowledged it and not recorded it. We produced a hard copy of our booking form and our dinner reservation was added. It is a purpose built hotel - our room was okay. It was clean, a reasonable size and had a view of the lake. The shower was good whilst the bathroom was very small with limited movement space on the WC. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant food was good. It is set price with option for 2,3 or 4 courses from an a la carte menu. The service is friendly and okay. We had a reservation for seven but noticed the restaurant starting to fill from about 6:45 - it opened at seven but there seemed to be service on a first come basis. I did not like the way residents walked between tables to get access to the outside to take photographs. Breakfast was worse and residents walked their dogs bringing them into the breakfast room on long leads and meandering through the tables. I understand this is a dog friendly hotel but there are limits. They could have done with more staff.

What a lovely location this hotel has. We'd travelled some distance and had expected, as guests, to be able to book a table for dinner. Alas, no. You had to book a table when booking the hotel! We were kindly booked into a restaurant in Pont L'évêque some miles away and enjoyed that but thought that hotel guests would have the opportunity to dine there!

“Reasonable price, reasonable place”

Even in high season August we managed to get a room at a reasonable price so weren't upset when we saw that the building and furnishings are a little tired and down-market. The ceramic tiled narrow staircase being particularly bad - looking like you have accidentally strayed into back of house. I found the public space lighting was mean: sparsely spaced fluorescent lights on sensors have a very penny pinching feel about them. The paintwork and furnishings are similarly tired. The room was small with a tiny window. We could hear our next door neighbours' conversation clearly through the wall; we could tell they were talking in normal voices. Luckily for us, they went to bed before us but you might not be so lucky. The room was clean. The evening meal was correct, nothing to complain about, nothing exciting. The wine menu very limited. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were very friendly and welcoming going to extra trouble to bring us fresh croissants. Nicely placed on the lake with a convenient car park, this hotel is good for a one night stop but I wouldn't put it on my list as a destination hotel.
