“Great Wedding Venue”

Stayed here as a guest of a wedding party in the main house. The building & grounds were great, perfect for our event & the staff were attentive & helpful in the main. The breakfast buffet was simple, yet well presented & tasty. Our main gripe was that the air conditioning was not working in the main house & we had to have fans. The fan which was present in our room upon arrival was inadequate & so a larger fan was brought which was effective but noisy. In this day & age and in a hot sunny environment (32 degrees..!!) Having air conditioning that works is essential. The hotel is out of the main town, but Chateaubriant is pleasant with some nice cafes & restaurants.

“Last night of our holiday”

Hotel was well-placed for our last overnight stop on the way back to Cherbourg to catch the evening ferry next day. It is situated outside of the town but well signposted and hard to miss. Hotel was well-placed for our last overnight stop on the way back to Cherbourg to catch the evening ferry next day. It is situated outside of the town but well signposted and hard to miss. Set in its own grounds, the hotel looks from the outside like a small chateau. There is plenty of parking space, and a friendly welcome awaits at reception. The lack of lifts meant that we had to carry our suitcases up two flights of stairs - no assistance was offered. The hotel does have charm, and our room at the end of the corridor overlooked the grounds and was certainly large enough, clean and comfortable. The downsides were only one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, no shower curtain around the bath made showering difficult, and the WC plumbing made an appalling noise each time it was flushed - all relatively easily solved, I would have thought.

We had a very lovely drive , from our first hotel, near Rouen, but then spent about an hour driving around looking for this hotel. There were a couple of signs , but they were not helpful.That said the hotel was very comfortable, pleasant staff, and excellent facilities. We stayed for two nights and the dinners and breakfast were first rate.

“Classic Old School, with upgrades...”

At the main Mansion everything is old, but all with the classic touch of being an old Mansion, probably from "way back when". At the main Mansion everything is old, but all with the classic touch of being an old Mansion, probably from "way back when". In the garden area is a never building with large rooms, and these with modern twist. I had high expectations towards the restaurant, but this never fulfilled these. Nothing there, except the service from the waiters, came to a level that would top up the beautiful surroundings of the Mansion. Overall a great place to stay.

The hotel looks absolutely lovely from the outside and I think it is a great decor for anybody looking for a wedding venue. However, for this occasion I staid in this hotel for 3 nights for a business trip and was not that impressed. The room design was pretty old fashion and the water temperature from the shower kept on chaning randomnly all the time. Once it would be cold, once it would be warm...One evening we decided to have dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and we had to wait pretty long between our starter and main. Probably something between 20 to 30 minutes...
